Why steeda over say BMR, CHE...etc ? bling only or is there a functionality that the steeda set brings that the others do not ?

With any luck, they'll be here by next Friday. If so, I may install both the mounts and LCA's on Saturday. Otherwise, it may be New Years weekend.

Cool I'm interested in seeing the mount install and going for a test drive.

Now that some of you have been over to see the pics (I've been watching), I can tell you that the car would never come close to breaking the tires loose like that... even with the 93 Race Tune. I could peel out, sure, but not long patches like that. The tires are just too soft and grippy.

Wait til I get the boost controller and the spooling figured out!

Bill, when were you in Texas?
You could've laid down long patches of rubber with a set of gears, aluminum DS, and a decent CAI kit.

... it was a virtual trip.

With the stock tires, maybe!

He wasn't even on it hard... it was the wierdest thing. I told him the car would barely break the tires loose, and he said, "Oh, yeah?".

He was already rolling in 1st, got on it, then shifted to 2nd and lifted right away so he wouldn't run into the guy taking the picture. I didn't even hear the tires at all! The same thing happened at the parade... as the tires warmed up and got softer, I couldn't hear them during the line locks any more!

When I looked back I almost couldn't believe it. I'm glad that 2nd picture shows the patches directly behind the car or I still may not believe it.

And that was with the crappy, "de-tuned" tune.

and if you had the MGW shifter the huge blank spot that shows the 1st-2nd shift would be about 50% smaller and you'd be able to stay up on the boost longer

C'mon.. maybe with the stock tires?

Tom, you're giving way too much credit to your tires, and not enough to the performance abilities of the N/A 4.6. You make it sound like you're running 12" wide drag radials or something.

I'd be fun to see if I can roast them right off the rim.

+1

I think Tom is the last of the Mohicans still using the stock stick with a FI engine.

You'll be surprised at the difference.

I'm comparing my driving style to my driving style... not to your driving style. Pop the clutch in first and of course you can roast them.

But there is a HUGE difference between the stock tire grip and the BFG tire grip. I used to come down this road to work that had a sharp right turn at the end. With the stock tires I could slide the rear end around without even trying. With the BFG's and the 93 race tune, it wasn't nearly as easy.

Could I have come into the turn harder and turned sharper? Sure... I'm just saying that when driving in the same manner, the better tires make a HUGE difference.

On second thought... You probably won't notice ANY difference with your driving style...

HUGE difference. The stock tires are extremely hard and way too easy to spin. A bigger stickier tire.... whole 'nother ball game
