Well, the hard part is done! Here are some pics:
Hood taped off and CL found. We made reference points down the sides of the hood and measured across to find the CL:
Template taped into place (I had to re-draw the cut-out... it was very light and hard to see):
Me cutting (I need a haircut):
Taping the "hole" as I cut (probably overkill, but it didn't vibrate at all):
My dad cleaning up the edges (I let him do something):
Finished with the hole (ring just laying in place):

Great job Tom (& Tom's Dad)
Do you plan on mocking up the Shaker ? You could install the Ball Socket and place the shaker on to test fit and a couple teaser pics

I layed the scoop in place (or at least very close) and the center line (between the fenderwell edges) fell right on the center rib of the scoop. So, that's all I did before cutting the hole.
There is some left to right slop in the trim ring. It might allow for about 1/8" of movement. Meaning, 1/16" either way from center.
Not going to do much more today... going over to some friends' house for dinner.
OK... here it is just laying in there (no ball or socket, no throttle body bolts):

Bill, I am your father, Come to the dark side son, the power of the Shaker is undeniable.
It would look good on a TR Vert to, with Black stripes. Hmm what about Black Mach 1 Style Hood stripes on a TR Vert with the Shaker ?

Great job, Tom!
I bet your dad was thinking you were effin' nuts for cutting a hole in your new car! Hahaha!
Daryl- Did you tackle the front bumper today?

Nothing surprises him anymore:
I'm pulling the engine out... he says OK.
I'm pulling it out again... OK.
I'm pulling it out again and building a brand new carb'd engine from scratch... OK.
I'm cutting a huge hole in my hood... OK.
There are some pics here, Daryl, of the ball. I can get better ones tomorrow when the camera doesn't insist on using the flash.
Also, Daryl, does the rear of the inner trim ring lay on or touch the flat air tube behind the shaker when the hood is closed?
Another thing... there is ALOT of slop forward and backward on the outer trim ring.

Tom, I have questions - (not that anyone would care about such cosmetic stuff):
1 - how do you "clean up the edges"? Some sort of file? (I am picturing nail file and buffer )
2 - when do the stripes come in/go on? (The hood looks nekkid.)
3 - what are you (and Daryl) going to do with the donut hole? I would mount it to the garage wall or something. Maybe make it a mat behind a pretty picture of your car?
4 - you didn't drill a starter hole like Daryl?
5 - I thought you said you couldn't tell there was Zaino on your car? I see a mirror image of your garage door overhead.
Dumb question, Daryl - which stripes are Mach 1? (Please don't call me a dummy)
Never woulda thought I'd be a Shaker girl, but someone's leading me to the Dark Side. I feel the pull.

Tom - sig update time? (I keep y'all in line) "CDC Shaker System (arrived)" Should that be "CDC Shaker System (in progress)"?
Window tint update - no scratches so far I don't think I've made it to Daryl's "20 x" threshhold yet. Maybe about 10-12 roll-downs and roll-ups. I got sunburned floating the river last Sunday, so I haven't been able to drive with my top down cause it's too hot on my skin

Tom, I have questions - (not that anyone would care about such cosmetic stuff): (I care)
1 - how do you "clean up the edges"? Some sort of file? (I am picturing nail file and buffer )
Just some sandpaper. To make sure there aren't any aluminum flakes left over or loose paint.
2 - when do the stripes come in/go on? (The hood looks nekkid.)
No stripes for me on the hood/roof. I'm putting some down the side eventually. Hood looks naked? With a shaker in the middle?
3 - what are you (and Daryl) going to do with the donut hole? I would mount it to the garage wall or something. Maybe make it a mat behind a pretty picture of your car?
I'm definitely keeping it... not sure what I'll do with it yet, though.
4 - you didn't drill a starter hole like Daryl?
I just drilled a hole in the one corner... just big enough so the blade of the jig-saw would fit in.
5 - I thought you said you couldn't tell there was Zaino on your car? I see a mirror image of your garage door overhead.
That pic is after I used alcohol on the entire hood so the tape would stick.
Dumb question, Daryl - which stripes are Mach 1? (Please don't call me a dummy)
Here is the hood of a 2003 Mach 1... I guess I would consider doing that along with the side stripes.

They're awesome!

I just finished taping up the centerline tonight. What a pain it was. I know the idea is simple, but trying to line up the tape and step back to see if it looks straight, really tests your patience. Guess it's sorta of a primer of what lies ahead.
I'll try and do the hood tomorrow afternoon if I have time, otherwise, it'll be Saturday morning.
And guess what? DEAD BATTERY!
I'm guessing the Lojack is the culprit. Last time I started it was when I got the front end alignment done (10 days ago).
I just hooked up my new Battery Tender Jr, that'll solve the problem for future non-starts. If the battery goes under, forget replacing it with another inferior OEM one, I'm going Optima Yellow Top!

Hope ya feel better. It's a shame having a vert and not driving around with your top down.

You should know us all better than that by now Susan.
3 - what are you (and Daryl) going to do with the donut hole? I would mount it to the garage wall or something. Maybe make it a mat behind a pretty picture of your car?
I still have mine in the front room, don't know what I will do with it.

I was thinking more Old School Mach 1 Like THIS Tom.

Gotta love a woman that Shakes it if only I were so persuasive with the women here
