Everybody is saying the opposite in that thread. I think the springs and sway bars stiffen the ride in those packages more than anything else.

I'll call Ford Racing Tech Support tomorrow and see what they say. I was thinking about it and I don't think I'm in the mood to remove struts, swap springs, reinstall struts, re-set camber, replace shocks - along with oil change, rotate tires, paint rotors - all in my 2 days off. I'll do more research on these struts/shocks and do the swap another weekend.

That makes the most sense. May as well get the 411 straight from Ford Racing, like I did with Mobil 1.

Here's some pics of my Solo S2 mounted and ready for action.

From the pics, I know it looks a few degrees tilted up, but I can't help or adjust that. Because the mount is universal, it is what it is... which really isn't that bad or noticable in person.

Also a short video clip of it powering on.

Looks like it's hitting the day/night flipper thingy, so he may not be able to do that.

Bill - can't you angle the middle bar (with the mount on it) up toward the roof a little, and then tilt the mirror back down. That should straighten out the detector.

Dang! Now why didn't I see that!

I believe you're right, I should be able to move the stem upwards like you said to level the detector out.

Thanks!

I have a strange question. Why do you need a radar detector?

Bill, thanks for the write up on the oil change. Did the change myself this afternoon. If I hadn't seen the FYI 'bout the stock filter and the mess it makes I would have been pretty frustrated. As it was I was prepared and besides denting the crap outta the filter I got it off.

How much didja pay for that detector. I swear I see more cops, radaring of course, now that I got the 'Stang than I have seen in the last couple of years. It's like they're waiting for me to have some fun.

BTW, went with the Mobil 1 oil and filter. 45 bucks for the filter and case of oil, not bad.

My understanding is that the stock filter is too tight because of being put on without lining it with oil...

No problem!

I got my S2 used off eBay from a guy who only owned it for a couple months for $230. New is something like $329 from Escort. My custom mount was around $50.

Can't go wrong with that deal, especially doing the labor yourself!

I've also read that the factory uses some type pneumatic machine to install those filters.

I can't Drive 55!

Sneak peak for my pals... My latest video.

I'll post it in the general forum tomorrow.

Re-hashed a few of my videos and added new pics from this weekend when cruising Palos Verdes... Including one very cool (and illegal) shot of me in front on the Fire Station.

Why is that shot illegal? We can take pics at our Fire Stations and Police Stations if we want to.

Oh, yeah, another great one!

fun video Bill! I think it's really cool how you are chronicling and archiving your car's life.

California Vehicle Code 22500(d): Parking within 15 feet of fire station driveway.

I think it has to do with blocking a 'life saving' vehicle.

I had the car running and me ready to jump in 'just incase' the doors started to open as they get ready to roll!

I can picture it already... "See, your Grandpa was pretty cool back in his day!".
