They are retarded. You can do it that way, but I wouldn't.
Maybe yours were zinc coated farther into the pad area.

That would put Daryl on .
And me!
Taken this past Saturday. No rust so far...
Yep, you can obviously see it's zinc-coated up to the point where the pads hit. Mine was bare metal across the rotor surface and only powder-coated black on the edge of the vents and the hub. I DON'T BELIEVE YOU DIDN'T TAKE OFF THOSE STICKY SQUARES, YET!!! (12 o'clock on your rim)
Here ya go, ya bastards!

OK it wasn't hard to guess so I'll just throw it out there.
My C&L Intake
This thing was pretty dirty.
It is ok though, I don't even have the SCT2 ordered yet so I have plenty of time.

Nah it was used so I expected it to be a little dirty.
It has a couple of nicks and scrapes on the heat shield but they won't be noticeable once installed.
The only problem I have with it is, one of the screw heads in the MAF Sensor is broken off
I will have to carefully use a left handed drill bit to drill it out and possibly re-tap it.

Looks good, Daryl... you should be able to drill out and retap that hole. Know anybody to get the proper tools from?
Got my oil today at Auto Zone - $38.50 for the 6 quarts and filter (less tax here than in CA, I guess). It shows the amount of savings with the deal on the receipt and it comes to about the price of the Mobil 1 filter like I was thinking. So, it's the same as "buy 6 quarts of Mobil 1 oil and get a free Mobil 1 filter".
I played really dumb (yes, it's hard to do) at Auto Zone and asked the difference between the Motorcraft filter and the Mobil 1 filter. He said the Mobil 1 filter traps smaller particles and has additional layers of filtering. He also said the Mobil 1 filter would be totally useless with conventional oil. That makes sense - since the Mobil 1 oil cleans better, there may be more crap to trap.
If they keep offering this deal at Auto Zone, I'll continue to get it, since it was $0.46 cheaper than at Wal-Mart with a Motorcraft filter.

But, at least you got a good deal.
If the heatshield is scratched to the point that it bothers you, you can always spray a coat of matte black on it.
I don't get the MAF thing. I thought the tube from C&L doesn't come with it's own MAF. And like the K&N, you have to transfer your MAF off the airbox to the (C&L) tube. I'd recommend checking that MAF PN# to make sure it's the same as your current one. If after you load your tune (later on), it runs rough or throws a CEL, I'd suspect that MAF sensor. Personally, I'd just install mine.
Unscrew that other Torx screw and check the condition of that other hole. Was the other screw broken off? Was it stripped? If the latter, you may be able to just run a tap down.
Good deal! Doesn't that black oil filter look nice? It looked really impressive when I first saw it, guess I'm easy to impress!
