Tom- Good to here you've been cleared to work.

Well here's a rundown of my day at the track:

Made 14 passes

Records stands at 8-6

Best Time 8.839 @ 81.97MPH = 13.73 1/4 Mile

Worst Time 9.077 @ 78.53MPH = 14.12 1/4 Mile

Difference between the two .288

Cars Beat:

2 05 Mustang GT's (Stock except for drag radials)

1 03-04 GTO

1 late 80's early 90's Toyota truck

1 00-03 3 series BMW

1 70 Mach 1 (Heavily Modded) (During Bracket Racing)

Loses:

1 Richard Petty look alike car (During Bracket racing) I only lost because I hit the brakes before the finish line.

1 1940-1950 pick-up truck (truck runs deep into the 6's)

1 Early 90's eclipse (Which I assume was modded since it took off like a bat of out hell.)

All other losses were by default since I took of to early.

All in all I had alot of fun and met alot of cool new people. Met Don there who of course was kicking a$$ with his car. I entered the bracket race event and made it all the way to the quarter finals. I would have made it into the semi finals but I screwed up when racing the Richard Petty mobile. First place got $1000 dollars. Not bad for only an additional $5 on top of the $30 entry fee. So in the end I got $25 cash and over $100 in free car maintence coupons. See pics below. BTW- I'm hooked I'll be going again next month. While I say I'm hooked I don't feel the urge for any crazy performance mods. I still enjoy show slightly over go. If anything I might get some slicks for the rear and throw them on the 16" rims I have from the 04 pony. The wife promised to go next time so I promise to get some vids next time. I'm kind of dissapointed with my time. I thought I'd be in the low 13's with the intake and tune. Maybe I need those gears or some slicks. I think it's mainly because my avg reaction time was above .650.

I think Don's wife may have got some footage of me. I think she was filming any stang that pulled up. If so I'll ask for the clip and post it here.

Tom- Good to here you've been cleared to work.
Thanks! First time ever that I'll be happy to go back.

Made 14 passes
Wow... how many people were there? I thought you might get 2 or 3.

I think it's mainly because my avg reaction time was above .650.
Your 60ft time is high. Did you let off the brake when the green light turned on or when the last yellow light turned off? I know your time starts when you cross the last sensor, but your times will improve with 60ft times under 2 sec. Were you spinning the tires at all or were you gripping good? You did excellent for your first time out - not crashing or hitting the wall is extremely good! With practice you'll bring that 60ft time down closer to 1.5 sec.

I wouldn't get all out slicks for your rear tires. I guy once told me that you want your tires to be the "weak" point. If you make your tires grab really, really good, you'll find your next weakest link. Maybe your axles, or your driveshaft. I would get some street legal drag radials. Much better than street tires, but should still be your weakest link.

And for Bracket Racing, you don't need any crazy mods anyway, do you? Isn't it in Bracket Racing where you don't have to be fast, but you have to be consistant? Did you have to put a time on your windshield and then NOT beat that time? So, if you raced Don, for instance, you would get the green light first and in theory you would both cross the finish line at the same time. And if somebody is too fast, they are disqualified.

Good going, Leo!!

With 14 passes under your belt (that's 14 more than me), you're the Senior Drag King here!

All of my experience and 1/8mi+ launches have all been on the street.

Again, nice job and way to represent the Mustangs!

Well, as you read from my post last night, our Edelbrock tour got scrubbed. But, our club will do a Poker Run instead!

It'll be my first Poker cruise, so I'll be sure to take some pics and videos.

Time to fire up my Pony and get it ready to roll!

btw- I just got my Solo S2 yesterday. I'll have to attach it via the suction cups since I didn't get my custom mount yet. We'll see how it works today.

Cool! I have a Poker Run on Nov 12th, too!

Don't test it out too good!

----------------

WebElectric stuff is here!

After lunch I'm going to remove the rings around my front speaker and paint them to match the IUP. Mustangshadow did this on his car and at MOSI, I asked him where he got the speaker covers - that's how good they looked! He told me the exact paint to get and I got it today. I'll take pics of both the WebElectric stuff and the speaker job!

CONGRATS LEO, but I have a question.
WTF is a "Quater-Finalists"? You were a "Quarter Finalist".
Can't believe Tom didn't catch this first.

Oh, I caught it right away, but I didn't think Leo wrote that, so I thought I would leave it alone for a change.

--------------------------

Here are the speaker pics. That paint is dead on with the IUP... it looks like it came this way from the factory. I cleaned the rings really good with Contact Cleaner, but I didn't sand them at all because I wanted to leave the texture the way it was. Sure beats $170 for speaker covers!! On the last 2 pictures, I didn't put any pressure on it yet to pop it back into place, so it is just laying in place... but look at it compared to the steering wheel and door lever.

There was actually alot of people but they run 4 lanes and the rice rockets who are the majority usually stick to the right side which leaves the left side for all the real power cars.

I think it's mainly because my avg reaction time was above .650.

Tks. No I was hitting the gas on the third yellow. I was getting some minor spin at the line though.

Yes the bracket racing is like you stated. I just want to go faster for fun not because of the bracket racing.

I did that to my window switch plates a while back. I used duplicolor silver spray paint for mine. What did you use? Here's some pics.

FYI- I ran with the race tune with a majority of the night. I tried the Torque tune but didn't notice a real drop or increase in time. I think I'll stick with the race tune from now on. I'll have to ask Doug if he can customize that tune more for a 1/8 mile run. I don't know if that's even possible. I'm just talking out my a$$.

BTW-My trunk nightmare continues I noticed cracking in the paint last night while at the track.

A poker run is typically done on motorcycles, but you go to several stops picking up cards along the way. Then they give prizes at the last stop for best hand, worst hand, etc.

I forgot you did that to your switch panels. I used Duplicolor Arctic Silver Metallic. It's actually "Import Auto Spray", but the match is perfect.

I don't remember you saying anything about your trunk paint cracking...

Hey Leo, how hard was it to remove the switch plates? I would really like to do that myself.

I just took them out for the "AUTO" button replacement. It's a piece of cake.

The piece you want to paint attaches to the piece below it in an UP and DOWN motion. The piece below it attaches to the door with an IN and OUT motion. Pull them both OUT together, then the switch plate can be removed from the piece below it. Unhook the connector to the switches, and pop out the switches themselves. That's it!

Hey guys, I'm back! Had an excellent time, no tickets, no accidents, and won $80 in the Poker Run! And, I actually put over 45 miles on her today!... Yay! I think it was the longest single day drive I did since owning it (besides the drive home from my San Diego Dealer on day 1). Wow, it actually is pretty fun just to go cruising; I may have to do this more often.

Solo S2 worked absolutely perfect. Went off early (like before I could even see them), warning me of 2 cops shooting radar at different locations.

Tom- Speaker covers look great! Matches your IUP perfectly. Since I have the Dark IUP, I'll keep mine black.

Leo- Yeah, Irwindale is the closest 1/8th mile track. Couple of club members have gone there before. Sounds like a fun thing to do.

Pics from today...

Came up with a Flush, cool! I didn't know you had the Dark Satin IUP. Maybe I'll have to get one of those radar detectors one of these days...

Can't believe I won either! I got the 2nd Place pot, only lost to a higher flush hand for the $200 pot! But hey, I'm not complaining!

I have an older Escort radar detector in my Tacoma, so I figured I better get one for the Mustang since it's a tad quicker.
The S2 is great because it's cordless and runs off 2 AA batteries. It has an internal motion sensor where if it detects no movement for 20 mins., it'll shut off. I saved a $100 getting it off ebay (mine was used for 2 months, looks good as new).

You forgot I had the Dark IUP??? The Silver is nice, but the Dark... Oooh!!!

I guess I didn't forget... I don't think I ever knew. I know Susan ordered the Dark Satin IUP because of glare with the convertible top down (there is none). It was just one of those things she read about when people were talking out of their a$$. The Dark Satin IUP wasn't available when I ordered my car yet in December '05. I would have still ordered the Light Satin IUP, though...

The Dark IUP looks too much like the cars without the IUP.
