Ponies on The Run (Again)

I know you guys love your tunes from Doug, but honestly has he ever posted a track time? The folks at Evolution Performance (current track times of 10.4 something in their Shelby) said that the best time that they saw Doug post was something in the 13's...

That 10.4 was on a as you said "Shelby" which by the way was heavily modded by Evo Performance. If you think that Shelby ran a 10.4 with only a tune and intake your crazy. Doug's 13.2 was either a stock Shelby or a GT with one of his intake and tune packages. You can't compare tunes with two totally different cars with not even comparable amount of mods. That's like comparing apples to oranges. Eitherway there's only so much a tune and intake package can do. So even if with Evo Performance's tunes you got and extra 5hp who cares? You can't beat great customer service. I'm not saying Bamachips is better than Evo or vice versa. IMO Bama,Brenspeed, and Evo are all the same it's just a matter of personal preference. If your an Evolution performance fan well I'm happy for you. Just try to have a better argument next time. GOOD DAY SIR!

Without a doubt..I wasn't trying to imply otherwise. I have seen the evo GT500 in person and it is a monster. My only point is that I know that Evo has pushed the envelope and know what these cars are capable of. I am not sure of how far Doug has pushed the envelope. From what I have heard second hand not much. So, right now I am in Evo's camp, and it partially has to do with location. You see, I am like 4 miles from their shop...So, customer service would be a breeze...

OK. I thought you were actually trying to argue that Evo Performance was better based on there Shelby time. If you live that close then definitly go with Evo since you can get it tuned on there dyno. Sorry if I seemed a little harsh on my last post.

All I know is the difference I feel going from the stock tune to Doug's 87 Performance tune. I couldn't care less about a track time. Now I have 93 Torque to try out... then 93 Performance... and then 93 Race! I hear that each step is like going from stock to 87 Performance. I'll be more than happy! Just getting rid of the drive-by-wire lag is worth the $400! And now my speedo is dead on with the tune... and I can really get my sticky BFG's smokin' in 2nd now (if I want to).
How long do brake rotors last under normal driving conditions? Just asking as I was thinking of getting the rotorpros rotors once the stock one's gave out although I'm sure you guys are going to say they'll last 100,000 miles. Eitherway I'm not getting the rotors untill I get my wheels/tires and my springs. Which may not be untill christmas if even then.
Maybe not 100,000... but a long time under normal driving conditions. I think I changed them on my Ranger around 60,000 or so. I wouldn't get them until you got aftermarket rims, either.

A long time unless you cause them to wear down prematurely. I think it's safe to say that the rotors will outlast your interest in modding this car. With that said, swap in the RotorPros when you change rims and tires.
They're all good tuners. Heck, I'll even go out on a limb and say that the Predator guys to a good job too!
Really, does it matter to the regular driver (like myself and 90% of the others on this board) if one tuner pushes the envelope further than the other if all we're talking about is a few tenths of a second quicker or a few more horsepowers?
All that should matter is that it performs better than stock and we feel like we got our monies worth. For me, BamaChips has satisfied both requirements.

Hey, no worries. I am like Teflon. I never take anything too seriously. I mean, how angry could any of us get when we all decided on such a great car. If nothing else, we kind of think alike.
I'm not trying to come across as a Bama hater. In fact, I haven't even decided if I am going to take the step to get a tune or not. The folks at Evo are chomping at the bit to get me done though (they already took some pics for their new catalog), but I also have an issue with thinking about changing the gears. I am thinking of going to 3.73's. Would basically run about $650 at Evo for everything. So, I would assume that if I am going for a custom tune, my best bet would be to change the gears first...
I am slightly concerned about impacting the warranties on these cars. Ford did a great thing in extending the warrenty to 5 yr/ 60,000 on the powertrains for the '07s. I am assuming that might be out the window if I change to the 3.73's...

What would have been great, was if they extended the warranty to 5yr/60,000miles on '07s and all the way back to the '05s. No offense to you, but what they did was pretty S H I T T Y! I'm sure they made a few improvements/fixes on the '07s, just like they did on the '06s versus the '05s. The one's who really need the extended warranties are the earlier cars with the problems. They should have done it across the board.

I remember when I bought my 90 GT, the warranty was 12mo./12k miles.
Though a 5/60 would have been better, I'm not complaining that we got a 3/36.

Are you planning on buying an extended warranty before the 3yrs is up? I know you won't hit the 36,000 miles.

I probably will. The car should be paid off by then, so I'll get the warranty (if I keep the car). 2009 is the year of the new Mustang style again, but I don't think I would trade in until 2010 at least.
You can put the warranty on a payment plan and pay it off in 12 or 24mo.
