Congrats on your purchase. I can't wait to get mine.

Do you have a pic of your tires from the rear? I'm thinking of getting 285's in the rear but I kind of want to be able to have a 4 tire rotation.

Yup, the cover looks pretty plain. I'd like to see it in black or something.

Even black or painted car color it still looks really cheap. I can't really think of any other way to spruce that area up but I don' think that's the answer.

I'm waiting for mgw to place the dipstick handle for sale so that I can buy my radiator and oil cap all at once. They're shipping process is painfully slow so even if ordered the the caps now I'm sure they wouldn't be here before the show on the 1st.

Excellent!

It's pretty cool to get more power from a non-mechanical mod.

People still rotate tires?

I'm supposed to, but always forget to.

I'm sure you'll be fine you still have like another 4500 miles before your first rotation. I'm willing to bet it's Chris who'll be doing it.

Na, we'll most likely change the tires out with some wider BFG KDW's (like Tom's) before I hand over the keys. Not sure how wide I can go on the stock Bullitts though.

Leo- Get on the freeway today? Just wondering how many R's you're turning at cruising speed.

On the stock bullitts you can go as wide as 255. So, 255/50ZR17 is the same diameter as my 255/45ZR18's (and very close to your stock diameter - you won't get any closer).

With every oil change. I'll rotate front to back every 5000 miles. Works out pretty good. Did my first oil change clost to 1000 and got the tires close to 1000, too.

235 -vs- 255:

235 on right, 255 on left:

I, too, was going to go wider on the rear... so was Mike. But we both decided to keep it so we could rotate (they're expensive enough... might as well get as much use out of them as you can).

The MOST important thing is to get the proper offset on the rims. Stock offset is 45mm (way under the fender). Pre-2005 Mustangs looked good with a 26mm offset. On 2005+ Mustangs, the offset needs to be 36-40mm... any less and the tire will stick way out of the fenderwell. Same thing with Deep Dish rims... they stick out. The side of your car gets dirty even quicker (not to mention chips from stones).

Leo, I would highly consider these... would look awesome with your black car and shaker (AFS through eBay is where I got my rims. They came perfectly wrapped and were in excellent condition):

or these if you don't like the Mach 1 rims:

The anthracite bullitts may look too plain against your black.

By the way, the link in your signature is to pre-2005 rims.

I checked mine... I'm right at 2000 R's at 70 MPH. Same as yours, Bill?

Here's a good shot of 2 18" Bullitts (OEM vs aftermarket) side by side.

btw- that's mine on the left (duh..) and my buddy Mike's (in my club) on the right.

Sounds about right. It was a month ago when I was on the freeway. I just remember cruising at 55 to 65 in 5th was deafening to the ears, but once above 70, it quieted down considerably.

Good, glad you're not going Brokeback on us.

My stock BFG tires now are 235/50ZR18.

How will my tire height compare to the 255/45ZR18's?

I like the KDW tread pattern way better than mine, much more aggressive looking. Mine looks like they belong on some sedan or something.

Your stock tire height is 27.3" (mine was 27.2"). This stupid new 235 tire size is hard to match exactly. The 255/45ZR18's will be 27.0".

Your speedo will be 0.8% too fast. When you are going 60, your speedo will read 59.5. That's the way mine is now, but the tuner will fix that.

Leo's rear end is 3.31 instead of 3.55 and his 5th gear has a ratio of 0.71:1 and he has 27.18" tall tires.

Circumference = (3.14159)(27.18 in)(1/12 ft/in)(1/5,280 mile/ft) = 0.0013477 mile/rev
5th Gear Speed at 2000 RPM = (2000 rev/min)(60 min/hr)(1/0.71 5th gear)(1/3.31 axle ratio)(0.0013477 mile/rev) = 69 MPH

I like that tread pattern, too. Either a sedan, or a Minivan.

At about 70 I'm at 1900.

Not sure if this is directed towards me or not but I think I'm going to go for the 18" anthracite bullits. I could still lean towards chrome or black but right now I favor the anthracites. Hmmmm...THE ANTHRACITES sounds like a rock band or something. I wish mustangtuning would make a set of bullits that are "hypercoated" like these here.

Tom- I might consider going to 255's now. I have to see if they make the goodyear eagle f1's in that size. Not a big fan of that mach 1 rim the spokes are to thin IMO.

BTW I got my 281 badges about 5min ago. That was fast I ordered them on Monday night.
