Just placed an order for more Zaino stuff, couple bottles of detail spray, polish, and car wash solution.

Came pretty close to switching over to Adams, but ehh.. I'll stick with what works for me.

Drove the car into work again today, got a little over 450 now. Gave it a wee bit more power and oohh, does it sound and feel good!

If I have time on Monday, I'll go ahead and change the oil and filter out.

I'll just use the standard dino Motorcraft 5W30 oil and Motorcraft filter. Was told by several sources to wait til at least 1500 miles before filling it with Mobil 1 synthetic.

I've used Motorcraft synthetic blend 5W20 and 820 filter on mine since 1500 miles, I don't plan on switching to a full synthetic. Just my 2 cents is all.

So what did you use prior to 1500 miles?

Our Stangs came factory filled with 5W20 semi-synthetic, right?

It's just that with a new motor that's not playing by Ford's rule, running either a 5W30 or 10W30 may be the oil weight of choice according to some.

That's the answer that's difficult to pin down, what's the correct oil weight to use in this MMR shortblock.. it's not stated anywhere in my MMR paperwork.

well.... it's a FRPP shortblock right ? The aluminator or whatever it's called. Maybe Ford Racing has something. MMR just assembled it. Just a quess ??

Yes, FRPP block. But, the guts of it is a Heinz 57 and each may have their own oiling requirements, as do the stock heads.

This is why I figured running either a 5 or 10W30 is playing it safe. I can't see any harm in running a slightly heavier oil than the stock requirement. Not like I'm choosing 20W50 like the old days.

But heinz 57 or not they were made for the engine and to the specs of the engine. Each Mfg has to make the parts for the engine and to it's tolerances and they are not going to change mfg-to-mfg. This ain't no complicated device.

I don't know what comes in them, I know that's what I've been using since then. For your application, I don't know if it's more specific for your crank/rod/piston setup or still mainly for the heads, which are factory.

Thanks for your inputs.

Honestly, I can't see any harm in running a 5W30 setup. Like Brian mentioned, though aftermarket parts, still spec'd to Ford's mfg design, So with that said, duplicate their oiling requirements.

Only diff being that now I have a Lightning oil filter setup!

Was going to but a couple people from carshows did not recommend it, but rather stick with the Z-6.

Been using Z-6 since new with no issues, so I'll just stick with it and it's cheaper too.

I do have a bottle of that Clear Seal that I've only used once. Might try it again soon.

Oh Dude...you're totally missing out....the Grand Finale is waaaay better than Z6...you just have to be careful putting it on and wiping it off thouroughly. If you slop on too much, dont shake it up first, let it dry on the car or not wipe it completely you could have some streaking for sure....the first time I put way too much on, after that I got it down and I am totally amazed with the results. It's like adding a coat of clear over the paint.....and it's fast and easy....but to each his own I guess.

Next time our cars are together, bring along the Grand Finale spray for me to try out on a section and I'll see how it goes.

Cause I for one don't want to miss out anything good!

Someone's stalling..

If its a love it or hate it, I doubt the 'perfect light' would help it.

Now go take a pic and post it up!
