I stay in the novice class. I just want to have fun and don't need the high speed passers running into my car.
The shedule times will be off if it's anything like last year.

Check Engine light came on in the Taco.
Smog check due next month. Last thing I need is to dump money into it. I heard Autozone does free CEL diagnostics, I'll have to check them out soon.
I hope it's just a dirty air filter.

FWIW, I drove my GTi for 5 years with the CEL on (after spending many, many dollars at the dealer) and one day it went out. Thought for sure it was the bulb. Then when I went to get ready to trade it in for the 'Stang and it died the light came back on. So for some reason 5 years of errors stopped one day and didn't come back on for about a year and a half
OK, OK, I get it now. wasn't too awake when I posted that.

I'll go the Autozone route and have them clear the code on my way to the smog station.

nope. The smog guys wouldn't look at Jen's car 'til the CEL was fixed. Luckily she finally got what was wrong and I fixed it for her. Some stupid little check-valve-o-meter puked. Greasy hands later she was able to get it fixed. Maybe it's something small like that ??

Yes you can, you can use it to read codes on any vehicle assuming it's OBDII or OBDII CAN compatible vehicle, I believe all '96MY and newer sold in the US are. I use it on all my vehicles to read codes.

Way cool. I can use it on my '96 Bronco.
That things got codes out the wazoo probably.
It's not locked in to the Mustang I guess as far as reading codes. Way cool.

Yep you should be good to go! I haven't used it on anything older than '98MY so I cant guarantee anything older than that but I have used it on my '98 Expedition, '03 Town Car, and my Dad's '02 Continental. I'm fairly sure that '96 was when the new standard was put into use/regulation.
