Hum, I can't help but feel that I contributed to the creation of that fine piece of art.

See I dig the car, or at least the c-stripes, and I think it looks better in blue. Or like Tom's white with black stripes/accents, that'd be cool.

Two cool things today!

Okay for you computer geeks, what's better than 1 Tera bite drive? how about 4! Actually the Linksys NAS200 only holds two drive the other two drives will live in my MAC. This cool gadget from Linksys is a network storage drive. I mirrored the two drives for redundancy and data protection. If one drive dies the other one has the exact image as the other drive. Plus this unit is avaiilable for any computer on the network and even through our VPN. It can act as an FTP server and you can us it as a media drive to stream. Setup was easy, best instruction I've seen. I love this thing so much I purchased one for the home! If you have tons of data like me with pictures and video files this is a great way to have fast access, protected data.

The drives just slide in the back...

Next cool thing when I walked out to my car this afternoon there it was a Z06! I had to shoot some pictures...George & Bill get a towel!

The office bulding in the back left is where my office is.

Was thinking the exact thing. But it's probably like the saying, if you gotta ask you can't afford it.

Hell no those suckers are in trunk already. I'll never have the mudflaps on the car except for track days.

Yup I had my 17" wheel with the MT radial and it fit with no problems.

Track Report-

First off I was mistaken theirs only two lanes for racing the 9 lanes were staging. I don't know why the guy on the phone yesterday felt the need to advertise 9 staging lanes.

So the big question everyone wants to know. How'd I do.

First the good news- Traction is no longer an issue. It was great to finally be able to go WOT and not have the car go sideways.

I got a new personal best of 8.4=13.10 1/4 mile.

Bad news- My best 60ft was 2.0 . Never broke the 2sec barrier WTF? I thought DR's pretty much gurantee sub 2sec 60fts.Not sure what the deal is. I didn't have any traction issues. Tom any guesses? If I can get my 60ft down by atleast 1/10th I'll be in the 12's.

No "Daisy Duke" contest. It was too cold and not enough chicks showed up.

Things for next time-I need line locks. It was a PITA to break the wheels loose. It took I'd say atleast a good 8secs to get them smoking.

I need to ask Doug for his race only tune. Reason being the car is shifting into 4th right towards the end of my run which isn't helping my ET's.

All in all I had a good time and really prefer Barona over the Q. With that said I may alternate between the two only because Barona's about 30-45 minute drive were as Qualcomm is 5 minutes away.

Heard a rumour that they maybe opening up a 1/4 mile track and some indian casino off the 76.

The cost:

Linksys NAS200 $149.00 @ Circuit City

Seagate Barracuda 1TB Drive $189.00 X 2 so $378.00 @ Best Buy

Total: $527.00

Not bad!

Great news Leo !!
Why the high 60' time ?? Launch RPM maybe ?? I was expecting the 60' to plummet like the ET. Not totally surprised about the line locks. I'd bet with a few more trips under your belt, a better 60' time plus a tune from Doug you'd reach sub 8-sec in the 1/8th.... easy

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and suggest that the torque converter or a high stall torque converter would relieve the 60' issue. Just a Wild-Assed-Guess though I don't know for sure.

Leo, just a newb question, why can't you manually shift during launch? Is that not recommended for track runs? Or do things just go too fast for that to be a viable option?

Leo-

DRs + 2.+60' = incorrect launch technique..... that'd be my guess. Try PMing someone with a girl-o-matic trans like yours, they can give you better advice as far as how to launch it.

And if you really want to go fast, get a tune from Brenspeed. They're track proven and designed specifically to get the best ET by simply leaving the lever in DRIVE.

Good luck-

Tom

try the race tune, and your times will go down a little as the track gets warmer, the tires will grip better. you can shift an automatic, but with a stock transmission, i wouldnt

cool computer stuff jed!

See...now that's just wrong. Some of us use the automatic because it's a nice, easy way to win drag races while you gear-rippers are trying to find the next broken synchro or figure out how to launch the car without blowing the tires off.

Leo....describe your launch technique and I'll see if I can help. You didn't deep stage did you?

Hey truth be told, I couldn't agree more. If you look around, you'll find that I was considering a swap to a 5R55s earlier this year- I got tired of watching the automatic cars with similar mods run faster than me because I was spinning off the line. I have a lot of respect for the newer auto trans, much more than the POS AOD in my '92 GT vert.

More than anything, I was giving Leo a hard time. Trying to make sure he goes back to the track in the attempt to shut me up.

But, I can argue that I know of more BOOSTED automatic cars with broken 3rd gears as I know of broken 3650s. And that for me, driving a stick on the street is more enjoyable than auto.
