OK... here's the deal. The car was dyno'd on a SuperFlow dyno, which is way different than what I (and Bill, I think) had our previous dyno runs performed on (a Dyno Jet). It's great for tuning, but it's like comparing apples and oranges when you are talking about numbers. So, I'm going to pay my $55 to have Justin at VMP Tuning dyno the car on the EXACT same Dyno Jet machine that I had my '89 dyno'd on. Then we can compare apples to apples.

At any rate, here is the dyno chart: DYNO CHART

RWHP = 392.4
RWTQ = 355.4
A/F Ratio = 11.5:1 across the entire RPM range (very conservative and safe)

Scott predicts that on a Dyno Jet, the RWHP will be 430, since there is an actual convertion from a FlowJet to a DynoJet.

But, like I said, we'll either confirm or deny that sometime down the road.

ON THE STREET:

The car flies! I'm uploading videos now, but they don't do the real ride justice!
No more hesitation, stumble, falling on it's face, etc.
The WOT A/F ratio was <10.1:1, now it's 11.5:1.
Average gas mileage to the tune = 17.9
Average gas mileage back from the tune = 26.4 (30.0+ at 60 with cruise control on)

OVERALL THOUGHTS:

Happy! But really wanted to see that 425. We'll find out soon enough!!

I think the "Ultimate Lie Detector" needs to take a polygraph test LOL.....

13.4 psi with < than 400 rwhp and only 350 rwtq? Don't get me wrong I am certainly not disrespecting your car or setup but the numbers just don't add up. I'm at somewhere around 11psi +/- .5 psi and am well over 450 rwhp and 400 rwtq.

Will be interesting to see what the other dyno shows. Glad it runs and drives well for you now!!

Well, Scott said the Dyno Jet would be 430 or MORE. He even mentioned 450. I just mentioned the lower of the 2 numbers he mentioned.

Before we even did the first dyno pull, Scott told me that FlowJet numbers are LOW. That's why I'm not putting too much faith in it.

He also thinks a boost controller will help bring in the boost quicker and will keep it between 10 and 11 (NOT UP TO 13.4!!!).

I'm thinking it'll be very close to yours - 450/400.

Drivability now is awesome!

Here are some videos I uploaded:

It was hard to hold the camera still for some of those shifts!
I can't believe you can't hear the blow of valve in the videos - must be the mic on the camera.

Scott tuning - still too rich and backfiring on decel.

Scott street tuning.

First street pull - still too rich.

Yeah, it doesn't lose boost in between shifts.

Fan-tastic! It's 11.5:1... Perfect!

Purr-fect!

You could race a Shelby with this thing right now and kick it's butt!

Dyno Pull

Very, very nice. I think one of the reasons for not hearing the blow, is because of the low psi you're running. When I go to the racetrack, there is this one group that has a twin turbo 98 Saleen, and then adjust the psi between runs, and I can hear a difference between low and high psi.

Thanks!

Oh you hear it when you are in the car! It's loud and sounds great!

It was at 13 psi when he was shifting in those videos!!

That's why I have to get a boost controller... to limit boost like a voltage regulator limits voltage from your alternator.

He says it's still safe since my discharge temps are low - don't know what that means, but I know it's a good thing!

There are over 2600 parameters that Scott deals with when tuning these cars. 6 redundant systems watching the throttle body alone! Freakin' unbelievable!

Great vids Tom!

Car sounds mean haulin' down the road!

I wonder why your tuner has/uses a FlowJet instead of a DynoJet? Cost? Must be some reason.

Since your AF ratio is where you want it, why not leave the boost at 13 psi?

Seriously, time to let go of the stock shifter in favor of a short throw.

You should hear it in person!

It's not the tuner - it's the dyno shop. Scott goes around the state from shop to shop. He knew they'd be lower numbers - it was one of the first things he told me. But he likes those dynos better for tuning for some reason. I already talked to Justin about using his Dyno Jet, but I may have to wait until January.

Since your AF ratio is where you want it, why not leave the boost at 13 psi?
I think there's a lot more to it than that. Check out the Turbo Thread for some fun!

Nah!
Now you really have to rethink your shifter stance. the 20 second shift just has to go

Car sounds great man. Can't wait to see/hear more vids !!

Cowboys barely won and we were missing Favre, Woodson, KGB. At full strength it wouldn't have been a contest. We'll see how the rematch goes.

Mark my words....

1) Favre will be back next week.

2) Packers beat the Cowgirls in Dallas on Jan. 20, my B-day and the conference championship.

Man I hope so. I'm not a Cowboys fan at all. Now when the Packers play Seattle, with their 7-4 record , The pack is goin down....

Oh yeah.....

I think I'm gonna have to call on that one. I still think Dallas is the better team.

Maybe if Rogers had started, the Pack would've won.

I do hope Favre gets back in the game next week.... I hate to see him be out, that sucks. Same thing with Terry Glenn for Dallas.... remember him Leo? #1 receiver for the team last year?

Even Leo has to admit that the backup came in and was tearing up the field! That dude had a heck of a streak, arguably better than Favre woulda played!
