Tom I get it now... If looks good stick it on the car so people can point at it in a car show! I'll talk to George next week about upping the WOW factor just for you!
Then you can still cover it with a boot.

BTW... Is it still Tom against the world? I didn't get the memo!
Of course not... but it's funny how this turned into such a big deal. Each and every mod in my sig I changed for either LOOKS (mufflers for the tips, springs, rims, hood struts, mirror covers, vinyl, center caps, etc.) or for some sort of performance gain when I DIDN'T LIKE the stock component (air filter, mufflers for the sound, tune, battery, etc.).

Bill knows that I don't just buy something without a lot of thought first.

Each and every one of my mods has a reason for being added or changed. So far, I have seriously NOT found a reason to want to change the shifter. Money is not the object, here. Like you've all said, what's another $300?

Yeah, but I was thinking about a better boot/shifter **** combo that will make people point at your shifter and go "WOW, he's got the MGW shifter!!!"

Maybe something like this but says MGW instead of Hurst!

John, I'll have you know that I'm way past the thousand mile mark now... actually a little past 1100.
Nonetheless, every new mile I add on my odo is an adventure!

I can attest to that.

However, Tom can't take the credit for being the pioneer to several of his mods..
Ultralites - me
Shaker - Daryl
MGW stuff: Tom and I
Rotorpros - me
CDC Classic Chin - me

But that's why we're here in TMS, right? To share, gather info, show off, debate, laugh, and cry. It's all good.

No, stock isn't good enough with the drive-by-wire lag. As far as using the 93 Octane Race Tune... Doug sent it for free, so why not use it? The throttle response is awesome. I drove Mike's car the other day with the stock tune and it wouldn't get out of it's own way (or at least felt that way after driving mine).

I agree. Normal acceleration is like pulling an anchor. The granatellli cai and corsas give it the potential, but the lag holds it back. There's plenty of power past 3000 rpm once you get by the lag.
I'm already bidding on another tuner on ebay.

I didn't like the way you could barely see the "4.6" on the strut tower covers, so I painted one of them white:

Attachment 23520

I poured drops of paint into the "4", the "." and the "6" and moved it where I wanted it with a razor blade. It moves the paint as easily as a brush, but doesn't leave any brush strokes.

When it's completely dry, I'll go around the edges of the numbers and lightly scrape away the white that came out of the recesses.

Then I just have to do the second one.

Looks good Tom!

What kind of paint did you use? Matching touch-up paint?

Thanks... will look better when I get rid of the excess white paint around the edges.
No, 10-year old white model paint! The match is very good.

I like the MRT Black shift ball too. I had it on my 05. Sure wish I knew where I put it, when I sold her. I kknow it's here somewhere.(Thus the reasoning for no pic's in the garage thread). If & When I find it, my Hurst ball will be avail to anyone here who wants it.

Tom,
It might help if you knew how to drive my car. You have to keep the revs up to overcome the throttle lag. On the way to work today, I laid a patch in 2nd gear just as long as I did with Dougs 93 race tune. (That would never happen in a stock Mustang) Don't get me wrong, the race tune is superior with throttle response and overall acceleration, but granatelli does an excellent job electronic wise to work with the stock program and regular gas for anyone who doesn't want to shell out $400 for a tuner.
I'm sure I'll add Dougs 93 race tune when I get a hold of a tuner, eventually.

It would take some getting used to after going from instant throttle response and zero lag (that's the same thing, actually). I was talking more about how it felt with normal driving, I guess. I really didn't get on it too long to see what you are talking about.

True, but you have to draw the line somewhere.

The black one? If yes, and it's in impeccable condition, then I will!

I'd rather give Doug $700 than $50 to Granatelli for the same tune.

The same place that it goes on the Shelby GT. I kinda eyeballed it on the car, I think it will look cool.

Not to add fuel to the fire, but why is everyone ******* Tom about not wanting the MGW shifter.

It's his car. He could say any reason he wants about why he doesn't want it, and it wouldn't matter, because he has the final decision on what he spends his money on.

Just something to think about. I don't want to restart the whole issue, so please don't comment about it. Just think about it.

Where's the Dead Horse icon when you need it. I have to agree with Mike. And yes I commented on it.

I know that alot of this is to at Tom. Can't we all just get along!
