My new wheels

Hey everybody this is my first post
I just bought a silver 2005 Mustang GT from the original almost senior owner. Its pretty minty, you have to look real hard to find any blemishes. It was garage parked and only driven about 6 months of the year. Has a black leather interior and is automatic with 56,000 klms or 33,000 miles. I bought it for $11,000 can, I think I got an excellent deal.
Well anyways check out these wheels that I just bought off ebay.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2005-14-FORD-RACING-MUSTANG-GT-V6-18-x-8-5-CHROME-WHEELS-COMPLETE-SET-OF-FOUR-/171230710493?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item27de254add&nma=true&si=hig91F1rB9NiUP30hIZ7tf4dm8M%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
I had to pay some taxes to bring them into Canada and there was some exchage rate, since the canadian dollar kinda sucks now. Wow they sure are nice, cant wait to put them on.

Oh I forgot I wanted ask about tire size sugestions. I am thinking of going with maybe a 245/45/18. I can get some Falken ZE912 tires for pretty cheap.
Has anyone every heard of Zenna Argus tires, they look ok for cheap, but I think they might be to off shore.

Check out American Muscles web site. They have those wheels for $159 each with free shipping. Also they have some very good prices on complete wheel, and tire packages. If you decide to buy from AM, contact "AMDanBailer" AM's rep. on the forum, and he will send you a 6% discount code. I've bought from them (wheels included), and they are very helpful. Shipping is always free. Just a thought for you to consider. As far as the Zenna tires I haven't heard of them. Your probably right, may be made in China were everything else seems to be made these days.

The wheels I bought were prefect, and they balanced up quickly.

Oh my, I just saw you were in Canada. AM does ship to Canada, but I'm not sure of the cost.

Those wheels look great. You could probably go wider that the tire you are looking at. Falkin makes a decent tire but I would go much cheaper than 115.00 a tire. A few bucks more will net you a better tire than the falkin.

they look awsome Im thinking of getting the same ones for my 2010 V6 Ragtop. They have that 70s retro kind of look. The wheels on mine now are a previous owners homemade black out set.

255/45/18 is a good tire size for an 8.5" wheel. You can fit a 275/40/18 if you want, but there are varying opinions on how safe that actually is.

Always love the 5 spoke design. That would be a fine choice but I certainly disagree about your thinking on tires. You buy cheap, you get cheap, with road noise, tramlining, and all kinds of potential negatives, especially once the tread wear hits the 50% mark. Your 'new' car with 'new' rims deserves a quality tire like a Goodyear Eagle GT or BFG G-Force in a high performance all-season format for your Canadian seasons. Good luck and enjoy!!!

255/45/18 will fit on those, the wider the better for handling. I was looking at the same set before I decided to go a different route when I get new wheels.

I had the G Force Super Sport on my TA and I thought they were pretty good for an all season and actually not bad in lighter snow. I read some reviews for them on 1010tires.com and people dont seem to like them that much.
The reviews for the Falken ZE912 are really good except everyone says not that good in snow and not very good tread wear. The biggest that I can get in the Falken 912s is 245/45/18.
I may even consider the Pirelli zero nero a/s as I can get them in a 255/45/18

Some day I would like to get some tires for my rims to. 275/45/18 back 255/45/18 front.
Not sure how the 275 would fit on a 8.5 rim though.

I'm running the Pirelli AS on negative temps and snow and they blow away Michelin and BF Goodrich AS. Good tires!

I agree with getting done Goodyear tires if you can swing it.

You bought the wheels from ford racing also...arent they beautiful. I think the bullet style of wheel just looks so awesome on the mustang. I have the silver painted 17" bullets on my car now. Im older and kinda old school, so I like chrome.
I have a few mustang brochures and you could get this style of wheel only in the polished version starting in 08 on the CS mustang. In 09 you could get the chrome version and it seems it was the top of the line wheel for 09. Im thinking now I should get a 255/45/18.

Does anyone know if there is any clearence issues with the 255/45/18

I'm like a crow staring at something shinny when it comes to chrome. Just beautiful.

The P-Zero AS tires run narrow, so a 255 isn't going to look as wide as a BFG or even a Goodyear in the same size. I went with BFG's for my Bullitt because they have a really wide contact patch and they look more "square" than most tires. There was a yellow Camaro SS that was parked next to my Bullitt the other day and it had 275 Pirelli's on the rear. They looked skinnier than my 255 BFG Sport Comp 2's by a noticeable margin.

Well I bought some tires. You guys in the US are lucky. There always seem to be better deals than here in Canada. I thought about doing some just across the border shopping. The canadian dollar kinda sucks now, so by the time you pay for the exchange and taxes and possibly duty (if they werent US manufactured) it wasnt really worth it.
I bought some 245/45R18 Falken ZE-912s used from a guy on craigslist for $360. The tires are 90% tread, no sidewall scuffs, repairs, etc. The guy I bought them from has a rental suite and the renter took off. The tires were in a locked storage so the guy just wanted to recoop some rent money. The tires are pretty minty and were stored in bags.
I wanted to get 255/45/R18 but I couldnt find a deal on anything used. The size and type maybe arent exactly what I wanted, but new would have been alot more. This way I have enough money left over for borla 11750 axelbacks...oh ya
I think I might put winter tires on my 17' bullet rims and just use my new wheels for about 6 months of the year. I figure this way If I dont like the Falkens I can save up for some tires that I really want.
Anyways heres some reviews for the Falkens

Hey Darcman, pleased to see another vancouverite. I would encourage you to get to know a couple of tire shops near you. find their guys who have mustangs or similar and understand the value of cutting a deal in between USA and Canadian costs in exchange for free press on the forums or at the car shows. That's what I did with kal Tire. I had my eyes set on set of Mickey Thompsons from USA last year. Kal tire won my business but meeting me halfway on a set of Nittos. They just asked me to place a deck of their business cards on my car at the car shows. no problem for me
