Linn Cove Viaduct on the Blue Ridge Parkway, if my memory serves me right. I have always felt the southern part of the BRP offers the most bang for your gasoline buck. Also like to sidetrip off to Mount Airy, NC, near the VA/NC line (Andy Griffith's old home town, the basis for "Mayberry"); man I love those pork chop sammiches at the Snappy Lunch!

Started a family, sold it to make a good downpayment on a house. Plus I was at the point of with it being a Mystic, I was near the stage of not needing to go any farther with mods because of it being a fairly rare car.

What the bear said. I went a couple years back and talked with one of the officers while I was there. He pretty much said that weekends will be bad with traffic and officers, but during the week you're fine. And that they know people come up to do some spirited driving, but that they're not really looking for speeding, just people driving like maniacs on both sides of the road and stuff.

Be especially careful around some of the corners as many are blind, and it's not unusual to come across a big truck, dumptruck, semi that is on both sides of the road.

Its a great place to go, but hell on the weekends. There's a metric assload of twisty roads all around it though.

Heres a few pics from trips we did up there. If you go up to hoopers bald on the Cherahala skyway, look at the thing and see the Bama Mafia sig is still there lol. Thats the site a bunch of friends started a loooooong time ago and where i first met Brad.
Man looking through these pics really makes me miss the Mystic.
In that second pic, the row on the outside is forum members here (well havent been around awhile). In order: Sendero, GoldnGT, RTgreen, and then My car.
Love this pic with the rime on the trees.

A lot of people outside of this area never see it or know what it is. When the clouds or fog is really thick in the valley and its cool, its cold enough to freeze it when you get up in elevation and it sticks on everything. I've seen it super thick on stuff before.

Here are a few pics of some that was really thick around my house a while back.

Might just be a regional thing, I don't know. But when it forms, the tops of the mountains will look like it has snowed up there from the valley, but it will just be all the trees coated in heavy rime.

St. Louis had it. And here sometimes. Just always called it freezing fog. Different from freezing rain because it just pulled moisture out of the air and froze.

I've got to get back home soon. Just too damned flat and weird down here. I need my mountains, just don't feel normal without my hillbilly surroundings. And the people are just too strange everywhere you go.

Wasup peoples?
Last day of vacation for me and I've been super busy. October never fails to be the busiest time of year for me. Also have a bicycle project that I'm working on which is proving to be a lot of work. I miss you people and should be back regularly next month. Lol

My hubby's union is on strike now but he has to work because his company has a no strike clause. So he has to work, and he also has to pay into a strike fund

Thank goodness for unions. They're so very good to their members.
