If you want cost effective shocks KYB gas-adjust (do not get GR-2's). They are just a basic stiff shock and for what it is its pretty good (
I have had these for years as well). However, I would go with the steeda springs and tokico blues. A good shock that will handle very well and give you a decent ride.

I think you'll be alright with the steeda. I have basically DDed my 99 with sportlines on it for years and they give roughly a 2in drop.
