I've heard of faulty headlight switches with these cars. Usually it results in a short that might blow the fuse on the instrument panel.

Looks like you have a few upgrades to your wiring. It's hard to tell from the posts what could be going on but with the headlights coming on after disconnecting the harness it would be sending power to activate the headlight relay somehow. On the otherhand 141mA should not drain your battery that quickly. Did you give your battery a slow overnight charge? and is it still draining quickly?

Tomorrow could be the Super Bowl weekend of the year.

A number of playoff games - both college & pro - have had previoulsy high scoring teams play in what turned out to be pretty defensive games.

I mean there have been some great games, but I'm hopin' they air that **** pig out tomorrow!!

Here's to big scores!

(but no one sided blow outs)

I gave it an overnight 2A charge. At least 12 hours.

I'm waiting to see what happens. I just reconnected it a few hours ago.

I was at 13.60v when I reconnected it.

And yes you are right about the headlight upgrades. I do have that direct wi from the HID controller. So with the harness unplugged I guess that bypassed the normal relay and they pulled their power. Which makes complete sense now that you mention it.

I get 15.4 when it is running, which I think is very healthy.

We will see over the next few days how well it does.

Yeah, have you checked the cells? (Can you do that with an Optima?)

The old battery in my F150 wound up having one weak cell so it needed a trickle charger about every 3rd week. I dragged that out for over a year.

All that sounds good. You never know you could have several problems at once, the fuse box, headlight switch and battery. I hope you find it soon, I know how irritating it can be.

Cant check the cells in an Optima. It's completely sealed.

And I do think i have had several problems at once. There was always something about the car that would cause it not to start after a few weeks. I've tried to find it for as long as vie had it. But it was like that even when it was stock. Which really sucks, because if it was something I did it would be easy to do.

What do you connect the multi meter to so you can check that? Can you tell if the alternator is getting weak?

After a new battery, due to a bit of pulse in my headlights and voltage gauge, I replaced the voltage regulator. Then immediately, with no hint of problems previously, I get a loud buzz around the starter when I try to start.

After 3 trips to Shucks and being sold the wrong solenoid (strike 3 I'm done with those idiots ), I went back to the local independent shop. Ran out of time today so I'll try tomorrow or Monday to see if that works.

But I'd like to read the alternator output if you can tell me how to hook that up. Is it just start it, put the meter to dc, and touch the pos & neg terminals?

Yeah. I plug into the V side with the red lead and turn the dial to V and then it's red to red and black to ground.

It's interesting. My meter reads 11.40 at rest and 13.40 while it's running, yet my meter on my battery terminal reads 12.60 at rest and 15.40 while running.

That's weird. Which is right. Because if the multimeter is right I'm not fully charged or I have a battery problem.

You may have a better conection on the batt. meter. Or that one is wrong. See if you can borrow a good battery from someone and try it.

Wow! You're famous!!

As he sat in a plush booth at A&W Root Beer on East Lodi Avenue waiting for his order and sipping a root beer, Arin Singh talked with his friends about the amount of calories he was about to ingest.

PS: Is there really such a thing as a 'plush booth' at A&W?
