I understand completely. I spent the first 24 yrs of my life in major cities.
The last 30 in the mountains (in spite of mediocre small town economies, less intelligent people, ugly fat women, and a bit harsher weather).

But I still like the mountains better.

PS: What do you call a pretty woman in my town?

You want that quick clean bass hit that will define a kick drum beat or a walking bass line. In most instances when setting it up for SQ, typically i would only be running an amp at 1/2-3/4 of its possible gain. Pushing it wide open typically results in some distorted noise. So a slightly bigger amp wouldnt be a bad thing, because you will most likely get a cleaner sound with it running at a lower level. That is just the results I typically got when doing alot of car audio.

Also Gary is right, the cotton filler makes a box seem larger than it is. Reason being is the cotton slows the air movement down inside the box on each percusion of the sub. Some say it gives louder bass.. i personally never noticed as I always went for SQ in setups I did.
I'm totally new to amps, don't know what gain and all that means. Does 175w RMS (bridged, I know that part) mean that's the max it'll run, i.e. with the gain all the way up?

August 24, 2010

Jackson County marked its 20th straight month of double-digit unemployment in July with a jobless rate of 12.8 percent.
The rate is slightly higher than June's 12.1 percent but slightly lower than July 2009's rate of 12.9 percent, according to the Oregon Employment Department.

Not always.
I get along with most people. Had great relationships in business in my area and regular customers were more like friends. And thankfully, in my life I haven't experienced many bad things caused by other people.
But the worst, most spiteful crap I've ever been thru came from small town inbred ks that had too much time on their hands and decided to make up a firestorm against me.
Today, the more I'm around horses the less I like people (and that's even after the stallion incident).

Oh wait you mean the sub box.

It serves many functions not the least of which is to stop all those God awful bouncing echoes inside the box. Plus it can help fool the sub into thinking it's in a slightly larger box. I do use it, even if it's only a few inches thick, it does not take away from airspace.
the truth is slowly revealed, lol

I knew what you were talking about. You might be able to remove those from the doors so that you wont get any over spray on the door panel itself. If they are plastic then you will need to treat them so that the paint will stick better than not treating them. You also have to rough it up with some smooth sandpaper so the paint will stick to it.

I really think the Rustoleum will work great. Although that section is plastic not vinyl, right?

So you prob need their Plastic paint.

ok, thanks gary, dirk, and charlie! I knew about the plastic paints, but was wondering about the prep. I'll paint them when I have to buy the new ones, use the old ones with the broken clips to practice on.

Its no problem man.

I try to help people out when they have these kind of questions due to me having experience in the auto body and paint field.

RMS is the continuous output the amp will produce. basically how much it produces all teh time at a steady state. Peak is what it will do in burst. Look on crutchfield, used to have a great write up on understanding all of it.
