You know me too well.

And what is a whippoorwill? Heard it in a song I think, but have no clue what it is.

Its a bird that sings at night, its call sounds just like its name.

Sounds like this...

The range for them shows to stretch all the way up into your area. One of the vids I saw said it was in Wi.

Sorta of sounds familiar, but I can't say for sure. So many birds around here.

Found the song too. http://youtu.be/zjHfGQv9JGE

And the other one: http://youtu.be/S9v_KgxOcu8

I love the sound of them. I sleep so good in the spring when you can open the windows and hear them, the Cicadas, tree frogs, crickets etc. all singing together. Its comforting for some reason, I guess its because I grew up always hearing them. When I'm somewhere that you don't hear all of that, I feel out of sorts.

Frogs are so loud right now it sounds like they're in the house with the windows closed. Haven't heard any crickets yet.

Always liked them. But they weren't in the St. Louis West County burbs where I grew up. Only heard them camping - moreso along the Missouri River bottoms at relatives than SE Mo where we would hunt a lot. And they are nocturnal so it was all night long till day break.
Not a peep out west.

I usually keep some of these in the freezer but I haven't bought them in a while.

Nah, I was watching Only in America on History channel and Larry was at the Texas State Fair sampling all of the fried concoctions they make. He ended up with a big corn dog and that's all it took for me.

My husband's grandmother used to have a snack shack on the boardwalk in Colonial Beach VA and she made them, but she called them dipsy dogs. She gave me her recipe before she died, but I haven't tried to make them yet. Maybe I'll try when we get back from our trip
I used to keep them around the house too but haven't bought any in a long time. They're alright for a quick snack, but they just can't compare to a fresh made one right out of the fryer, with a cup of mustard to dip it in.

I don't hear as many mockingbirds around here as I used to, but there is one that really gets wound up ever so often. He is relentless, just keeps going through his entire catalog of sounds. Pretty amazing creature.

Tell him to shut up and drive. Or just keep turning the radio up and act like you're really into the song that's playing.

Well guys I got some news for you.
Lastnight I went to the ER due to chess pain and they found that I have Gallstones. They told me that I should be thinking about having surgury in the next few days to have my Gall Bladder removed. I am thinking that might not be a bad thing. The Stang looks good after I washed it. I know I am gonna have to make my own thread about it but I dont know if I want to do that just yet.

OH and my hood should be here like next week if not the end of this week.
