In somewhat rural Virginia, I have found gassing up has become a social event. More times than not, 1-3 folks will come over and we chat, usually about the Mustang they had or plan to get. Everybody waves at everybody around here.

Out here in the most country parts of NC everybody waves at all cool cars. I got a cousin who hates Fords(or did, aint to sure now) but when I got my 66 he loved it and looked it over for an hour. Us "rednecks who just dont care" are more often enthusiasts than those politically correct city slickers who dont even wave. Everyone out here does the 1 or 2 finger "salute" wave mentioned earlier, I dont know, maybe its just a North Carolina thing, since alot of others here in NC get friendly responses too.
