Mustang Cologne: A Review
I must admit to something that not many people know about me: I was a big Michael Jordan fan in high school. I was a skinny, unathletic white kid riding the bench for a small private school's terrible to mediocre varsity basketball team, but I loved watching MJ on the court. I had the shoes, replica jerseys, and tons of other Jordan memorabilia. My mom bought me some Michael Jordan cologne on one of her business trips. More than a decade later, that bottle is still 99% full because that stuff stinks like sweaty high tops and a locker room.
I honestly expected about the same thing from the new Mustang cologne--some horrific mixture of burnt rubber and high octane fuel that would ensure a female-free zone for 10 feet in all directions from me. I just hoped I could use the box for a nick-nack in my office.
My sneak peek of the cologne and aftershave came in the mail today, and I was way off.
Sure the packaging is nice--the graphite metal aftershave tin and bottles wear the chrome running pony on a honeycomb background surrounded by the classic chrome corral--but this stuff smells great.
It's masculine but refined; confident but unassuming. It's horsepower in a bottle. My wife was oohing and aahing over the aftershave before I had unwrapped the cologne.
A bottle of Mustang should be at the top of all Mustang owners' wish list, and it would make a great gift for any car guy--Mustang enthusiast or otherwise. It won't be available in time for Father's Day, but place a photo of the tin or the ad in Dad's Father's Day card and let him know that his bottle of Mustang is on the way.
Mustang will be available in the U.S. in July at Sears, JCPenney and Kohl's. A 1oz. cologne spray will be $20, 1.7oz. $25, 3.4oz. $32, and 3.4oz. of aftershave will be $25.

I got a bottle of the Mustang Cologne Spray as a birthday gift on September 7th. The scent smells similar to Aramis and come in a neat collectors box. I'll probably buy a few more as collector items.

It is also available at most, if not all, Wal Mart and Target stores now.
I also assumed it would be a half rate cologne, trotted out as a marketing tool. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it is a very nice smelling cologne. I guess it might not appeal to everyone, but I enjoy it and have even had a couple of comments on it from the fairer sex.
