Happy Birthday Mustang .....

Been a busy week between work and other obligations, but the Wife Unit and I did take the Mustang down to Salisbury Wednesday, got a room, and then Thursday we drove early to the track and parked near the southern pedestrian bridge in preferred parking, walked across over 29 and from then until 5:00PM ....

.... and then we had a blast!

Wow, it's almost as if they knew she would be here for the 50th!

We looked at just about every imaginable color or powered ( .... I bet a 5.0 Coyote would wake up our 2001 Mercury GM! .... saw one in a Sport Trac at CMS!) Mustang made 1964-1/2 through 2014 (that's 50.5 model years) ....

.... and we saw a 2015 which is slick looking, but which is not really part of Mustang's first 50 years .... though I am sure it will be a bright star of the 100th Birthday Celebration .... some day way off in the future.

We enjoyed looking at them all, watching all the ones that took to the track, the vendors, the food, and the views of CMS that we had never before enjoyed from the infield in all the races I have been there for since the first in June 1960 (I was a kid) or Wife Unit since she started going with me in 1980.

4 in the US, 1966 Mustang Ranchero .... $4500 new in 1966.

5.0 in a 67'68 Mustang.

If you had your Mustang there at all, in any fashion ....
.... "Wife Unit: and I want to thank you! ....
.... even if just in the parking lot near ours ....
.... as we enjoyed them all.

We drove back home Thursday night ending a safe and fun trip!

I did have a promise from the "Wife Unit" that if by some chance Linda Vaughn was there and it was anyway possible, she'd take my picture with her. Wife said "Suppose she's 80?", I said ..... "That's OK, I ain't 12 anymore either" .... LOL.

Happy birthday, Mustang; thanks for the memories. I won't be around for the 100th anniversary, but I hope YOU will.

A few more pics, and then I'll stop ....

Great profile pic, '66 GT350 and later S197 Shelby alongside .....

Number 619

Here's a nice 67 GT500:

Roushified ....

Saleen in black:

Nice Fox .... there were a ton of nice foxes there!

More pics .....

Just one of several Boss 429s ....

Curious? I do like!

The tail lights just don't look right to me .... really need to tidy them up, get them straight .... maybe a whole new light, then maybe so ?????? Otherwise, it was cool!

Another Saleen: Put these lights and trunk panel treatment on the retro car above and keep the bumper ... might look some better (JustIMHO).

A lotta "RED" here .....

Great pics Les. "Lotta Red", the Wifey noticed that also. Said, "Wow, red Stangs everywhere". Glad you had a good time in my home town. Come back anytime.

BTW, we did drop into the back of the 800 Mustang run to Kannapolis just for kicks. The rain didn't dampen the fun. Tons of people along the route. A good time was had by all.

Yeah, the Reds were there in numbers .... and red stands out more, so that amplified the effect I think.
I saw your pics of the cars lined up and the PoPo 5.0 Fox leading them .... Thank You, and "Wife Unit" and I were worried maybe the rain would hurt ..... glad it didn't dampen spirits too much! There's only gonna be one 50th Birthday year.
