I have the chance to purchase a 2006 GT with Saleen Supercharger, SCT Tuner with JDM Tune, GT500 Dual Fuel Pumps, Mcleoud Twin Disk RST Clutch, and many more extras. It has 41,000 miles and he wants $21,500. Is this a good buy? I don't know very much about performance add-ons and I just want to be sure I wouldn't be making a mistake.

Ok. So your saying $21,500 is too much? $16,000 seems a bit low. Stock 2006 in the area are selling for $17,000 to $18,900.

 

Nevermind that last post. I understand what you're saying now. $16,500 for stock plus supercharger brings it 21,500. Told you I don't know much about performance.

 

I should ask him how many miles the supercharger has on it? If it has 20,000 miles, a good offer would be $19,000?

 

that sounds like a good offer. I wouldnt go over 19500 because you could buy a stock one and install a brand new SC for around 21000

 

If the car is in nice shape its probably a good buy. As with any modified car, make sure you check it out thoroughly because it's all the more likely that it's been run hard if it's heavily modified. If you don't know a lot about performance mods ask the seller if he'd allow you to have the car looked at by a third party mechanic. If he says no, walk away, as that's a bad sign most of the time.

check out the mpg in the info center. Just wondering what it is. if its low say 10mpg or less I would say he beats on it or does very little highway driving

Just saw this and the only concern I would input here is; who did the tuning? You have the potential in investing in a great car with some outstanding parts but if someone who isn't so good with fuel and powerbands got behind the tuning; it could become a very short lived minute amount of fun. Was it Dyno tuned as should be the case with any F/I application and if so, who was the tuner? What's his record like with tuning F/I setups? A lot of variables and you know the saying; "If it sounds too good to be true"...
