Geico says no to CAI kits?

Geico says no to CAI kits?
I have been unable to verify this, so please don't take this as gospel. My father in law works for Geico auto insurance here in Virginia. The other day out of a clear blue sky, he asked me if I had a CAI on my Mustang. When I told him yes, he shook his head, and said that Geico was going to drop (or possibly up their rates) of anyone who had a CAI or other "race paraphernalia" in their cars. I have searched the internet, and have not found anything to corroborate this, but he has no reason to lie to me about it.

Most insurance co's won't know until you have an accident. If they pop the hood and see it they 'risk report' it to underwriting. Then you may get a rate adjustment or dropped on your next renewal. It's not just CAI's, but any 'performance modification'... including lowered suspension. (I don't make the rules)
Just another thing we can thank the Fast and the Furious crowd for. The ins co's are scared of their policyholders street racing.

My own insurance (USAA) is awesome. My car insurance almost stayed exactly the same when I jumped from a compact sedan (sentra) to this GT. Plus they don't have any restrictions on what I can do to the car. I think they do have a clause that says my rate changes if I plan to drive a Mustang with 1000+ HP on the street, or if I strap JATO rockets to the runners, but other than that I'm good.

That sounds about right. I used to get Car and Driver back in the 90's and there were always people writting in to complain about how their policies were terminated or thier rates grossly inflated after receiving a single speeding ticket. I even remember one of the magazine staff writting an article called "The Geeks at GEICO".

I kinda remember a acticle i read back around the same time saying they donated something like $150k to Police departments so they could purchase Radar Equipment. I also remember reading about them hanging out at drag strip's checking License plates, Boom cancelled the next Monday.
They sound like i company I would want
I have had Allstate for at least 15 years and Never had a issue and I do keep them in check from time to time.

Geico was good to work with for me when i was hit in a lot and they took off after denting my quarter into the wheel in a previous car, however they specifically asked me this time if I was planning any modifications to my Stang when I called to get my card. kind of a bummer , makes ya feel like you can't do anything to your car, and then will need call them to tell them. At least the CT/Cs I have has a larger front air intake stock.
