#1: I wish I was fortunate enough to be able to buy a car (a bunch of cars) and just sit on them for years and years.
#2: Why would I WANT TO buy a car or bunch of cars to then just sit on them for years?
#3: Should one win these at auction and should one decide to actually use them, the perceived value would plummet so one can't drive the car one bought.
This reminds me of a (probable) urban legend in the '80s in the motorcycle world. There was a BSA Golden Star motorcycle still in the original crate. It supposedly was purchased and re-purchased at auction after auction for being an untouched BSA m/c in a crate. But because no one would open the crate to examine it (if you opened the crate it was no longer untouched and would lose value) the buyer really didn't know if it was an untouched BSA. It could have been a crate full of bricks for all anyone knew. I buy a car to use it, not stash it away in a storage locker even if the seats still have plastic wrap on them.
