2v or 3v?
I was thinking if both the 04 4.6 and the 05 4.6 had the same exhaust; which would be louder? And what would the difference in sound be? Both cars having a off road H pipe and borla stingers.

I think in real life the difference in sound between the 3v S197 and the 2v sn95 is more a function of the inherently different exhaust system design of the two chassis'.
If both engines were somehow fitted with the exact same exhaust like you say I think they'd sound pretty similar with the exception that the 3v revs a little higher and so would keep getting louder as the 2v starts to run out of puff.

I'm not exactly sure why, though i think its because of the difference in the muffler locations in the SN95, but I can ALWAYS define a 2v 4.6L from afar without seeing the car. There's a distinct rumble in the low RPMs from that engine when opened up that I have yet to miss, it sounds really good.
The 3v, however, above 2.5-3k (after the trumpeting in particular) sounds more refined. Where the 2v sounds super deep below 3k, the 3v sounds cleaner above, and as someone says it revs higher so it keeps going

Yeah but that could be because of the cat back. I'm talking about if both have the same exhaust. Thousand I would like to know why the GT was louder.

3v would be louder because it has higher compression. Cams make a big difference in sound too.
