2007-2013 shelby gt350, 500 advice
 

Hello Im considering the purchase of a 2007-13 shelby Gt350 or 500. Looking for advice on what I should look for or be aware of. My most recent stang was 2001. It ran great but the computer malfunctioned,too much to replace.

GT350's weren't made till 2015 so I guess your search is down to just GT500's then. :yup:

Thanks. Im looking at mostly mechanical issues, My 01 had fuel filler pipe corrosion, computer issue,periodic clutch plate alignment problem.If I had not driven it for a while there was a trickle drain in the electrical system which effected the fuel injection system.

I have a Whippled '13 GT, my wife has a '13 TVS-swapped '08 GT500.
I work on, modify, maintain, and drive both cars.
I'm hoping to swap my GT for a GT500 soon.
I would never consider a GT350 from the '11-'14 time frame, only because I already own a supercharged 5.0
Basically, if you're looking for something special from that time frame, go for '08+ GT500 (the '07 GT500 is just fine, but if going for more power with it, it will require an upgraded crank damper, something the '08 cars already have).
The simpler engine, extra displacement, forged internals good to an easy 700 rwhp, and the awesome torque of the 5.4 (or the 5.8 if you get a '13-'14 GT500), all combine for an experience that will make you grin absolutely every time you drive the car.

Issues to watch out for: The '07-'09 had a TSB on the clutch. If you drive one and the clutch is heavy, noisy and extremely touchy, it has the bad clutch in it. The replacement clutch is nice and holds our 656 rwhp just fine. But it's an expensive $2,000+ repair, even with aftermarket parts.
Also, all Mustangs kill their batteries if not driven for 2-3+ weeks at a time. A battery tender is highly recommended.
