Proud 67 Fastback owner!
Proud 67 Fastback owner!
Hello everyone! Although I've been "lurking" on this forum for a long time (learning a lot), I didn't own a Mustang until yesterday when I picked up a 1967 Fastback! It is definitely not without its problems (hence why I could afford it), but it is a solid running car and should make a great start to a project.
So i have been wanting a classic Mustang since high school when I would walk past a 65 coupe every day on my way to school. I'll also admit to being influenced by Gone in 60 Seconds; I was young and impressionable at the time. But don't worry, I'm 30 now and know that I do not have the skills or money to do a proper Eleanor. Besides, Ford pretty much nailed the body styling on these first generation cars, why mess with that?
I look forward to working on this car and making a solid driver out of it. I know I still have a TON to learn, so I should continue to be on TMS quite a bit. There is a thread in 1st Gen with more pictures if you're interested. See you around!

Congrats on a) getting a 67 Fastback (my fantasy car) and b) passing on the temptation to add yet another Eleanor clone to the world.
67 Fastbacks don't NEED styling "help" imo.
I like the plain jane "Bullitt" look anyway. BTW, my wife says she loves the color.

Thanks, I love the clean look too. Someone put Shelby scoops on this one, and I might actually like them, haven't decided yet. If I do change the look, I might keep the scoops and remove the grille decoration like the Bullitt car, take a styling note from each.
The original color was Pebble Beige. Can't get much less interesting than that. This current paint is a real 20 ft job, and the roof is pretty rough where the jerk put in a sunroof (later very poorly fixed). So a respray is in its (distant) future. I'm not going back to Pebble Beige...maybe DIB???

I would normally stick with the original color, but I think the beige is just about my least favorite for 67. Of course I have tons of time before I'm even thinking about paint, but in my opinion, the DIB would look awesome on it.
Welcome to TMS!
Wow!! Your car is beautiful and essentially the perfect car I am seeking as well. I am 28 years old and I am looking for one as well. Would it be hard to restore it? Or should I buy one almost fully restored? I am also in between a Shelby mustang and a fastback 1965-1967. I do know I want the car to be a convertible. Any suggestions anyone? I am still trying to figure everything out. Thanks for the pics. Again she is a beauty...
Thanks! When I started my search, here were my criteria:
-67 or 68 fastback
-had to be running/driving
-not rotted out
-preferably a v8
It seems like there is a gap in the ones I found: either they were beautifully restored and cost $30k+ (I saw one restomod locally for $100k!) or they were rotted out or in pieces. It actually took me a couple years of looking to find one locally in good shape but not fully restored (affordable).
I'm just a little older than you, and I know I don't have plans to sell, so I can take my time with her and learn as I go along what I need to restore/modify her properly. Best of luck in your search, keep us posted on how it goes!
