New Mustang after 30 years
Hi from Minnesota! My first car was a '66 Mustang, I also had a '67 and my last was a '71 which I sold in the early 80's. Now that my youngest son has graduated from high school we decided to get a fun car and have been shopping for a Mustang for about 6 months. We have been looking for a '11 or '12 V6 which is all we could afford but came across a deal we couldn't pass up.
We found this 2013 V6 premium with the Pony package and electronics package at a local dealer. The kicker is it only had 480 miles on it! We are a bit over budget but quite happy!
Now I am trying to decide if I should change the oil, I believe break in oil is special stuff but it is now 2 years old and the manual says to change it at least once a year. I have emailed Deysha, we will see what the factory has to say but informed opinions are welcome.

Hi all, I'm Steve in NY and I've loved the Mustang my whole life. I had an 87 GT and an 89 LX 5.0 when I was younger and enjoyed them both. My Dad had an 85 GT as well. I used to belong to the Long Island Mustang Owners Club and won several trophies for showing my Mustangs as well as being able to judge cars from the 1964-73 era. I'm married and we currently have one car a 2013 Ford Fusion SE which we love and I am looking forward to getting a 2015 Mustang Ecoboost at some point next year. I wasn't sure about the redesign until I saw it at the NY AUTO SHOW this past April ( my parents, wife and myself made the pilgrimage for the 50th anniversary). I fell in love with it's modern lines and look. I'll try to put in pics of my old Mustang so you can see her ll those years ago.. I look forward to getting to know you all and rejoining a hobbie which always filled me with passion.. Also including a pic of our 2013 Fusion

Also, as you already know your vehicle is equipped with the Intelligent Oil Life Monitor™ (IOLM) system which displays a message in the message center at the proper oil change service interval; this interval may be UP TO one year or 10,000 miles (16,000 km). When ENGINE OIL CHANGE DUE or OIL CHANGE REQUIRED appears in the message center display, it’s time for an oil change; the oil change must be done within two weeks or 500 miles (800 km) of the ENGINE OIL CHANGE DUE or OIL CHANGE REQUIRED message appearing. The Intelligent Oil Life Monitor™ must be reset after each oil change. Therefore, it still learns between time and mileage.
You can find this info and your oil requirements/specifications in your Owner’s Manual Printing 3, on page 439. Also, be sure to check out our coupons here before your next service appointment.

Looks like I will be changing the oil! Do I need any special oil for the remainder of the break in period? I understand synthetic is not a good idea.
