Hey, my name is Barrett, I recently started looking into restoring a car, and immediately decided on a classic mustang. The only problem is I don't know where to start. I'm hoping to spend around $6000 and get something that at least runs, and work on it from there. I have a little bit of engine experience, but no body experience and I'm hoping to learn a lot about bodywork. I'm currently looking for a standard v8 with hopes of eventually putting a 302 in it, but if I can't find that, how hard is a manual or a v8 swap in these engine bays?

Welcome to the site. What years are you considering? I personally prefer 67-69. Any small block V8 should be a simple drop in on those.

well I'm torn between a 69 convertible, and a 69 fastback, I'd love to have a convertible, I've always wanted one, but I love how sporty the fastbacks look compared to a convertible

Yep. The 69 fastback is hard to beat. One of the best. 70 is not bad either. Don't really care for the verts those years. Shouldn't be hard to find a descent one.
