Driving a Stang Again!
 

Hi guys (this includes gals as well),


I figured it was about time I joined here as I've been reading posts for a while. I'm sort of an old guy so I'm not new to Mustangs having owned a 64 1/2 fastback, a 73 convertible and about a year ago a 14 GT/CS convertible. I've been trying to decide where I'm going with the GT and still have some deciding to do. Part of me wants to go autocrossing (I've done this with a Trans Am and later a c5 Corvette) but not sure how 'hard core' I want to make this sweet driving car. So a lot of my early posts will be about suspension mods, minor HP mods, etc. I'm in the Atlanta, Georgia area so some of us are probably neighbors.

Thanks! I've been down to the military base museum a couple of times, love that place! Great looking convertible in your avatar, I wanted blue but got a great deal on triple black which worked for me, too.

I work at Robins AFB as a test engineer for the Hurricane Hunter aircraft (WC-130J).

Very cool! Have you ever caught a ride into a hurricane? That would be fun, but I'd probably pop a Dramamine or two first. My neighbor was a Special Forces fire officer on an AC130 in Afghanistan, shared some great stories. I used to work in a hi-rise office building in Marietta near the end of Dobbin's runway and C-130s were always buzzing by our windows.

No hurricane rides yet. Funny you should mention the gunship. I was a software developer for the recently retired AC-130H gunships (Spectre) for 12 years. That's where I got my user name from here. "You can run, but you'll only die tired."

I'm in IT, too. Long time mainframe guy. Reading your signature I have to comment on your Corvair. My mother bought a red hard top in 65. I remember it fairly well. One thing I remember best was it was always wearing out tires faster than it should, she was always trying to find someone who could align all four wheels to point the same way! Turns out my wife's family also had a Corvair and we compared notes on how uncomfortable the hot metal strip was on the backs of our legs while sitting in the back with the seat folded down. Those were the days.
