10 year lawn ornament

Hey there, this is my first post with many to come. I just aquired a '69 coupe after it sat for over ten years in my in laws florida back yard. Half rusted out, it took me and my brother in law almost 8 hours to dig it out and put it on a trailer. Now i am on a mission to bring it back to its glory. Numbers matching block, and from what i gathered the transmission and steering column are original as well as the axles. Looks like some home mods under the hood from previous owners. I am still looking for the build sheet in order to confirm.

I am considering swapping the suspension for a junk yard 05 or newer for the handling aspect and swapping the original 3 speed auto for a 5 speed manual. And input on the subject would be greatly appreciated.

wow you have 2 tons of work to do. Are all the parts there or do you have to collect everything that is missing. I don't know if the rear ends are the same dimensions. You would have to take some measurements.

All the parts are there and some new old parts as well. I have 2 ideas going, either a rat rod project mad max style or full restoration. Time and funds will determine which direction i end up going.

Forgot to mention as well, the motor does turn by hand and the tranny switches gears nicely. Electrical needs pretty much full replacement as i hooked a new batt to the starter directly and wasnt getting anything out the other end. And half the wires are chewed up. Rear end turns nicely, no abnormal noise surprisingly. Only 1 brake is locked up and the **** steering gear snapped while getting it on the trailer but it did turn well before that. (The wheels being flat and buried while trying to turn it caused that)

Wow, good luck. You have a big task a head, but I am sure it will be worth it in the end. :nice:

Nice share there Sarge!

You have your hands full, that's for sure. I know you'll be hitting the Dynacorn catalog. They have a lot of 69-70 pieces now.

I know this thread is really old now, but I would love to know what has happend to the car.

IMO it's not really quite that old just yet at nearly just under 2 years since the last activity from the OP's :dunno:
