I saw that and wondered wtf they are all doing in a mini series. It better be good.

Just wanted to share this with y'all since youtube increased the upload times. Most of you probably never heard this since it was on an actual album. I listened to it many times being the aficionado I am and am happy to be able to share it with others finally.

I realize its long, but that doesn't matter when you're in the zone like they were. And you may disagree, but IMO this was one of the greatest collaborations of musicians in history. The chemistry was undeniable, the skills were second to none, and the emotion that fueled it all was born in the South. Good ol' Georgia music, the classic mix of rock, jazz, blues, country, you name it.

I know most wont pay any attention to this post, but for those that do and appreciate music, ye shall be rewarded.

The full version of Whipping Post, Live at the Fillmore East 1971. It took up an entire side of an album, and there are many worse ways you could waste 23 minutes than listening to this. Rolling Stone called it the best live recording ever put on vinyl, and I'd be inclined to agree.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you, The Allman Brother's Band.

I love the way it builds up and builds up to a gut wrenching climax, then back down to gritty painful blues. It just doesn't get any better my friends.

I actually saw them in concert at Jones Beach in 1995 when I was about 7 or 8

When I got my Ipod I would turn it all the way up and put my headphones under my pillow and listen to Jessica, Melissa, Statesboro Blues, Ramblin Man, Midnight Rider, Blue Sky and One way out as I was falling asleep.

Don't get me wrong, they were very good then, especially with Warren Haynes, but the core of the group was long gone by then. Something that can never be recaptured or replicated, the licks might be great, but the soul and heart behind them cant be duplicated. It was like a chain, when the master link was broken, it just wasn't ever as strong. There was magic between them. When Duane and Berry were called home, the fire left. Gregg, ****ey, Jaimoe, and Butch are great, but something just isn't right without the whole. There was something so special there, the flow, the vibe, the feeling, just can't be replicated.

I only wish I could have been around to see them in the heyday.

Hey lee, this is on my iPhone, just to make you feel better that not all of the younger gens dont appreciate the older amazing music that has come out through the years

I have the whole dreams box set on my computer and most of its on my phone.

I will say this, the transition from don't want you no more into ain't my cross to bear is phenomenal. I heard t live in 98 here with my dad and uncle (both musicians I grew up around) and I was floored.
