Started today at 239.2 lbs, under 240 lbs for the first time in over 5 years.
That's a 26-pound loss in 7-8 weeks!

Cool! 26 lbs in 7-8 weeks is a healthy rate of loss. Four years ago I went from 205 to 180 in 8 weeks and have stayed there +/- 4 lbs ever since.

I've never been able to keep it off losing that much that fast, could keep it off for a while but would get hungry and frustrated after a while and slowly slip back and gain it all back and then some. That's why I've always been fat.

This time I did it the right way (at least for me) and have kept it off and it changed my whole way of eating and living. 5lbs a month was my goal when I started and it made it a lot easier to slowly change my eating habits and lifestyle to where it just became normal. The farther I went, the easier it was to make more adjustments, but it got harder to lose 5lbs a month, but I got in better and better shape and eating a LOT healthier.

Took me 5 years with a few breaks of just maintaining for 6 months or so at a time, but I've lost 130lbs. Weighed 280 in 2011 and now I stay in the mid 140s.

Yeah, trying to get down to 135 just to see how I'd look, but its a lot harder to lose any weight when you get thin, lot easier to lose when you're big, haven't got much that I can lose now, lol.

I eat a 4oz serving of smoked or grilled chicken, or salmon 3-4 times a week, along with salads with cheese, and a lot of beans for protein and fiber, and fruit. Once a week I'll eat a small serving of pork, and once a month a serving of beef. Mostly beans and veggies fill me up.

Plus I'm still not smoking after 2 years, so my endurance has really built up, walking 20-25 miles a week now depending on the weather. Can walk 5 miles in 1 hour and 15 minutes now without the cigs, and not even be out of breath. Couldn't walk 200 yards without having to sit down huffing and puffing before.

Beans are a legume, not allowed in the Whole30 diet program my fiancée and I did.
Cheese is dairy, smoked salmon has a lot of salt in it, keeps you from losing weight too.

That's **** impressive!

I've tried to get in the pool and swim laps this year. Had a pre-season goal of swimming 5km in one session, I think I'll blow right past that (already hit 3.6km - 2.25mi in a session). So I've decided to up my goal to the unofficial swimming marathon distance of 10km or 6.2mi. That's going to be a challenge, but we'll see.

TBH, none of those diet programs that people come up with work to keep weight off long term, at least not for me. I've tried them all over the last 30+ years and I lost weight, and then gained it all back and then some after a while, especially when I lost weight fast. Giving up things that are good for you makes no sense long term, and beans are goo for you. No fat, high in fiber, high in protein, and filling so you don't need as much fatty meats to be full and feel statisfied. I watch salt too because of my blood pressure, never had smoked salmon, I meant chicken baked or cooked in the smoker, salmon about once a week, grilled or baked. I also eat a good bit of nuts as snacks in between a meal, filling and satisfies that craving for something fatty.

The main things that have worked for me this time are portion sizes, and changing what I eat over all. When I first started this in 2011 I still ate the all the stuff I liked, burgers, pizza, sausage, bacon, pancakes, etc just smaller portions. Lost 50lbs in the first year or so. Then slowly started cutting down on meats and the type meats I ate and how often.

The main thing for me is, NO fast food, No fried foods, and I eat very little potatoes or bread or pasta. And I haven't drank soda, tea, coffee in 12 years, even diet soda. I only drink water and lots of it.

Going in to have a never-worn suit altered cuz it's too big after losing weight, only to be told you've lost too much weight and the suit can't be altered that much without looking goofy.
Bittersweet, but I have a new suit coming my way

Thank you!

Today the fiancee and I went and checked out a nice little Inn where we'll be getting hitched, and made all the arrangements with the place.
Also got a photographer all set.

Yesterday I also received a letter from the President of the local college I took a Web Design Certificate course in.
Apparently my 3.96 GPA was good enough that I made the 2017 President's List

The thing I love most today ... Well, started yesterday at about 235.x lbs, which makes it a 30-lb loss in about 2-2.5 months now.
Drove the Mustang a bit, then finished the day by getting married, small little get-together but loved it.

So, for yesterday, for today, I love all those things, I love my wife, my life, my house ...
I'm a husband!
