Yes, but then they'll claim they couldn't cash the check and then hit you will failure to file and failure to pay penalties. I've seen it done. Good thing I send everything to them certified return receipt. :bs:

Naw - not really - that is a Combat Artillery Badge (CAB) - I couldn't get awarded a CIB (Combat Infantry Badge) - even though I was with an infantry unit, I didn't have the proper MOS (11B "job title"). So............ we tried to get this approved, but I was shot down and replaced with the newer Combat Action Badge - I don't really care for it.

It's just something different - and everybody doesn't have one. The St. Andrews cross design for all the combat arms is a long tradition though.

So, what's the difference in a Combat Artillery Badge and a Combat Action Badge?

Well - I will try to explain in layman terms
Let me start by saying there are basically three requirements for award of the Combat Infantry Badge. The soldier must be an infantryman satisfactorily performing infantry duties, must be assigned to an infantry unit during such time as the unit is engaged in active ground combat in offensive operations, and must actively participate in such ground combat. Campaign or battle credit alone is not sufficient for award of the CIB.
A soldier must be an Army infantry or special forces Officer (SSI 11 or 18)Personnel with other than an infantry or special forces MOS are not eligible, regardless of the circumstances. Even though I was assigned to infantry or special ops units, I had an SSI of 13 when I was enlisted, not 11 or 18.
The Combat Artillery Badge was designed specifically for people like me, who met all conditions but had the 13 SSI.

The combat action badge can be awarded to anyone - The requirements for award of the CAB are Branch and MOS immaterial. Assignment to a Combat Arms unit or a unit organized to conduct close or offensive combat operations, or performing offensive combat operations is not required to qualify for the CAB. You cannot be assigned/attached to a unit that would qualify you for a CIB.

I have known of cases where a mortar landed near an operting base and all 200+ people in a unit were awarded a CAB - most were asleep and didn't even know it hit anywhere near. I think it is just a little lame, but it is what it is.

Here is a better picture of a Combat Artillery Badge - I may use it as my avatar - that other pic isn't too great.

Yep - a stable for Mustangs - I have a '66 that I have to put back together, and a '67 vert that needs a full resto.
I may sell the '66 and start looking for a Tiger.

Good stuff! We still have to figure out why you can't post on HCS. :( If you're trying to attach files like you did here, that won't work, but if you were linking like you used to do to photobucket, it shouldn't be causing any issues.
