i know about C130 transport planes and F117A fighter jets and Gulfstream G4 and G5 private jets but not much more .. i used to make parts for those ..you can always tell a Gulfstream jet by the loud whistle / whine that the engine makes in flight .. they use exclusively Rolls Royce engines //

Q1) I doubt the plane is wide enough for there to be much impact from passengers moving to one side.
Q2) It would depend on the plane, but I imagine 2 would be the minimum. Loss of both on one side would not make the plane fly in circles. When a twin engine plane loses an engine, it doesn't fly in circles.

Weight and balance is important. I'd think you'd have more of a chance for a problem if everyone moved all the way to the front or back. Of course even then, it's not like you can really squeeze everyone into a row or two.

sowwy, was a-sleepin'
k, if a plane is full of people & luggage, & all the passengers on the left side of the plane all rush over to the right side, would the plane dip or anything?
&, if u have a 4-engine plane, how many engines can die & still keep it in the air?
if both right side die, does the plane just fly in a circle?

about a week ago i bought some weed killer in a effort to kill some poison ivy that is rampant on my property .. it says it wont wash away in rain but it has rained every day since i began spraying .. i still have poison ivy everywhere but a strong storm just blew thru with an incredible wind gust front .. as i love a good non tornadic storm i went for a drive in the midst of the barrage .. went down a local street and came upon a tree blocking the road .. backtracked to a side street and found another downed tree blocking the street .. doubled back to the opposite end of the very street i live on and found yet another tree across the road . made me wish i had a chainsaw in my car ..

Except today.
Got it all morning instead of this evening.
Haven't had my rain gauge up, but I would not be surprised if I've had 10 inches of rain (at least) out of these storms since last Friday at my house.

Tulip popular fell Thursday
Hoss these June storms have been rough. Last week a 100 foot pine tree 75 feet from my house got struck by lightning, going to have it cut down. Lost one cable box but charter took care of it. Neighbor said she saw fireball come off tree and go down her sidewalk! Thursday in the storms had a huge tulip popular fall just missing the back corner of the house.

4 engine planes have been known to land with only 1 engine running, but it's not easy to pull off that maneuver. Circumstances have to be just right, very little extra weight on board, and the crew has to be very careful.
Flying with 2 engines out on the same side is tricky; you'll want full rudder trim in, and max power on the inboard engine, with no more power than you need on the outboard engine. Depending on how the systems are designed, you could also be flying without some systems. For instance, on the C-130 the hydraulics that lower the landing gear are powered by the both left engines, so if those are out, you'd have to use the manual emergency extension system to lower the gear.
As for passengers running around in flight, side to side won't make much difference. If everyone ran to the tail, the plane would be less stable, more likely to pitch up and down. If everyone moved up to the nose, it would be more stable, but harder to raise the nose during takeoff and landing. If you read accident reports, you'll read about crashes caused by center of gravity out of limits from time to time. Usually it's because there's too much baggage stowed in the tail.
HOSS429, what's your Herk background? I was a crew chief for 14 years (10 of that in AR shop) and flight engineer for the last 6, 20 years active duty stationed at Little Rock the whole time.

Anybody else a fan of The Wire? I swear to God I saw Omar in Walmart today. Dude was a dead ringer for him. If I looked like this guy, I'd seriously just walk around in stores whistling The Farmer in the Dell.
