hey Art what is that incline for in the back gorund? Its amazing how much steel and concrete have to go into a new bridge for trians these days, when there are so many wooden bridges still in good working order
The medal incline is a belt ramp that Ocean Cement uses to get material from one side of the RR track to the other. The track underneath is a sub from the CN yards at Thornton to the BNSF for southbound access to the USA. Check out the view from google maps for this area http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...06459&t=k&z=17 |

Now for the Mustangs. Let me caution everyone: DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS YOURSELF! It will get you in serious trouble with the Park Rangers.

Let me warn you that if you attempt to do what we did in those pictures you'll face serious penalties. When we did those shots we were "accosted" by a Park employee and threatened with federal tickets from a Ranger. I called his bluff and won out because there were no signs stating that stopping on the bridge was prohibited. When we came back to the area there were signs erected that stated stopping on the bridge was illegal. In fact, when I called the Ranger station to ask permission to take photographs on the bridge I was told that all loitering, including foot traffic, was illegal. However I do find it hard to believe that Park Rangers have been writing all those tourists tickets for taking pictures on the bridge. I don't want to see you with a $600 Federal fine for just trying to get a good picture. I'm sorry we screwed it up for everyone. :( |
I can see if it's busy...but in the middle of the weekday when hardly anybody is around...I can snap a couple good pics..:) Thanks for the warning tho..I'll just play dumb...me not no how two rEad....lol
