I'm a massive fan of Southern rock and the history behind it. But I can't stand Sweet home Alabama, over used and over played. The second vid is one of my favorite live performances of theirs, it's an amazing combination of players, especially that triple lead.
Ronnie used to perform barefoot a lot because they were so loud it was easier for him to keep time with the band by feeling the beat through his feet.

Both good. Found the other vid of Free Bird live that I think is better. In England no less, and just look at the mass of humanity that showed up to listen to a bunch of rednecks from the South. Amazing.
I like what Ronnie does during the solo. Steve Gaines was a new member at the time and Gary Rossington and Allen Collins went out to front stage to play that triple lead, Steve stayed in the back, Ronnie waved him out with the others as an equal. And he dang sure was.

Smokey and the bandit. It's an automatic when he backs it out of the truck first time. It's a 4 speed when he smokes the tires leaving the red light, then auto again. When he's sitting at the Texas line waiting on snow man, it's got the honey comb wheels, when they get to the beer store, it's back on snow flake wheels.
And I also wonder what kind of work was done to it other than a shift kit, because when he picks up frog, it lays pretty good rubber on the 1-2 shift, and those things weren't exactly potent back then. Especially the 6.6 litre 403 Olds motor. The t/a 6.6 Pontiac 400 was better but not a ton.

Another Movie Which Went Back & Forth From 4 Speed to Automatic in a 71 Galaxie Was White Lightning With Burt as Well. Actually I think The Interior 4 Speed {shifter} Shots were a 71 Mustang and The Four Speed Sound Effects added in!
