Question Is it just me or are Corvette guys snobby?

I was browsing around CorvetteForum for the first time in a few weeks, and 90% of posts there.

Mustang? Inferior rubbish not worthy of being called a car. If you can't afford a Vette, you don't deserve a car.
and

Viper? It's a Dodge, that alone is why it will never beat the C6Z06 in any category of performance
Seems to me if these guys spent less time stroking their egos and more actually racing or even driving they'd be saying different. Unlike us guys, we're much cooler than them.

While I've seen alot of that from Corvette guys, such mindsets exist for all types of cars. Sad ain't it?

Still, it seems much more prevalent there than here. Look at some of the posts in the Other Cars section.

corvette guys are giant snobs.... i mean what other sports car has higher sales figures of automatics vs. manual. corvette: the sports car for the 60 year old that doesnt actually want to drive a sports car.

corvette: our s&&t don't stink

corvette: yeah there may be better cars out there for less money in our segment, but we're still better than you.

corvette: smells like glue and rattles apart. but at least you get a cavalier grade interior for 50+ grand.

corvette: yes we DO still use leaf springs

ok i am done, FOR NOW

I drove Corvettes for many years. Nearly every 'vette owner waved at me as we drove past each other.

Now I'm back into a Mustang. I love the car but rarely does another Mustang'er give me the wave.

Wonder what that says about us?

Mark

I would say that the general difference is that your average Joe does not buy a vette. Mustangs are marketed to the average Joe. Most people see their Mustangs as a means of transportation .... period. It is not their dream car or obsession. These forums are the exception, not the rule.

I would say that your average vette owner has always wanted one, and can finally afford one. Your average mustang owner got a nice car that they could afford.

It's the 'small weewee club' wave...

Not all mustang owners have small *****

hahahah

All kidding aside, I agree it has to do with the shear numbers.
Not everyone is an enthusiaist that drives a stang

Although the small mindedness knows know bounds, there are dinkus' that drive stangs just as much as vettes.... just less vettes running around,
so the chances are greater running into one I guess.

Do you ever notice how motor bike operators almost always give a way ? and no its not to see the other guy fall off when stearing with one hand. !
As Mustangers we should start it up and get people well "Happy"

I think I will take your experience as example and wave to other Mustangers on weekends. Unless I get a wave during my commute, in which case I will wave back of course.

Best thing that happened when I sold my ZR-1, was I didn't have to go back to those pompus forums anymore. Alway's gave the "V" wave in the vette's, only would get it back from C-4's or older. Wave to all mustangs in town when I'm in my rides. It's catching on. The Classic's, GT's and performance enhanced Stangs usually give back a great wave too. Still working on the chick's in V-6 Verts.

When i had a classic stang whenever i saw another person in a classic i would give the wave.

But since the mustang is a car for everyone not every is an enthusiust. Its just not the same waving to the soccor mom that knows nothing about cars or why you are waving then somone who enjoys cars.

Think you hit it pretty much on the head - I usually wave but don't get much response - the folks driving the older Stangs do it more.

At the monthly cruise- ins we have during the season, the Mustang and Vette owners hang out more together than other groups.

when i get out of the city and travel through rural areas, I've noticed that everyone waves at everyone. When driving the blacktops through lower Alabama, I found that the driver of every oncoming car waves. It's kinda weird if you don't see that everyday. But it's just people being friendly.

Go to a car cruise and try to approach the owners of specific cars

I've found that 'vette owners are among the least friendly, Mustang owners are about 50/50. The nicest guys seem to be the ones who have oddball cars. One gentleman who helped me find parts for my Galaxie at the time was especially friendly.

I find it silly to look down on someone's car or walking around with a chip on your shoulder, I guess that's what happens when you're over compensating
