87 is now $2.49. Unless you've tuned your car for it running anything other than 87 is a complete waste.

You know I'm mad. I went back and forth from PA to NJ for a mustang car show. I dropped 60.00 bucks alone for gas.

2.23 regular
2.35 plus
2.44 premium :angry:

checked yesturday and it was 1.93 for regular at wal-mart and you save .03 cents per if you use a wal-mart gift card to buy the gas

so

87 = 1.90

Yes, because my car is now tuned for it.
Tony, who tuned your car to run on premium? The dealer? What was involved? Is there a noticeable improvement in performance? If so, is it worth the extra cost of having to purchase more expensive fuel?

All of our cars are tuned for it. Quote from the August 5.0 mustangs and super ford:
"Ford has tuned the knock sensors so well to the stock engine that the Spanish Oak is actually programmed with premium fuel ignition and fuel tables, but the car is sold as a regular fuel car. That means with reegular fuel, Ford is relying on the knock sensors to constantly maintain timing because the computer is trying to run aggressive, premium-fuel spark tables all the time"

I have noticed that the car runs smoother and without detonation on premium fuel. For me 2 dollars extra a tank once a week is a small price to pay for running what the engine is designed to run, it's cheap insurance.

But with the knock sensors you are unlikely to damage the engine running 87 so to each his own.

If I don't move over there, I'm going to create a new combustion chamber for my car to run off of urine .

It's not as involved as that at all Chris. I've got the Predator tuner and it comes with tunes for 87, 91, and 93 Octane fuel.

All it really is, is timing, I have been able to actually to advance it a little bit as well, although I may have to undo that sice the temps are in the stratosphere and if I stay put in traffic for awhile I'll get some pinging until some fresh air can start flowing thru again.

$2.53 for 87 and $2.79 for 92. It looks like the $3.00 barrier will soon be broken.
