American Sniper
Who's seen it?
Just got back from the 12:20 show with two friends. Got there at 11:50am and could not get 3 seats together. This is on a sunny Sunday at noon!!! Jam packed. A second Imax theather was running the movie and it was sold out. And I heard that the 11pm shows on Friday and Saturday nights were also sold out.
It's powerful and emotional and very gut wrenching at times. Some of the most poignant moments were the scenes that focused on PTSD.
To say the acting and directing were suberb is an understatement. Bradley Cooper flat out killed it, and Clint Eastwood is a friggin' genius.
The entire crowd stayed until the final credits rolled in complete silence, almost reverently.
I'm planning on seeing it again.

Saw it last Saturday night.
There were three of us 20 minutes early and had to sit in front row. There wasn't even two seats anywhere else.
I may see it again because seeing a movie in the front row far left isn't really seeing a movie.

Fortunately our local theater has reserved seating and advance ticket purchases. I went with my brother-in-law and a friend. Great movie and Chris Kyle was a true American hero.
Michael Moore should probably be a little careful. I suspect there are more than a few members of the military who would love to punch his ticket.

I always wondered why they even have those front few rows. I guess to pack people in. But it's such horrible viewing.

I had no interest at all in this movie, mostly because of my dislike of Brad Cooper, but if y'all say it's that good I might take it in tonight.
I just get tired of the same actors role after role, and have trouble seeing them in character anymore. That being said the rest of the cast looks unknown. IMDB is rating it 7.6/10 which ain't bad.

I'm sure I will watch it one day. Preferably at the house or on the computer. Really could do without the emotional dead silence in the theater at the end.
And how come there's no Selma thread?

I saw an interview with a black film critic who said Selma was a mediocre film and in his opinion was not best picture material.
