Almost fatal drive
This is from my recent trip to Colorado. I decided to take my family who had never even seen a mountain before up Mount Evans. The day started out sunny and warm, but by the time we made it to the entrance a light rain had started. As we went up the rain changed to sleet, and then the sleet changed to a heavy wet snow. The video ends as we are almost buried in near white-out conditions on a narrow road with no barriers, a sheer drop off on one side, and two very scared females in the car.
It's a very pretty drive up to that point though. |
That would be fun without the weather.

Glad everyone is ok and you came out unscathed. We have not taken that route before, next time we are out there we will have to drive it.
Have you been on Independence pass? That is another scary but beautiful road out of Aspen, as some point I think it is gravel, or maybe I confused it with another road, but it narrows to about 1.5 lanes no guard rails and a 2000 foot drop. That was 20-25 years ago so maybe they've paved all of it. |
I've been up that road. Highest paved road in America, about 14K feet IIRC.

That's why I love the mountains. Of course, I usually love the mountains in a 4x4 lifted Jeep with my Hoyt in the back (or, if I'm lucky and draw a rifle tag, one of my long guns), but that's just me.

I've seen some serious weather changes on my travels, but I don't think any of them rival Mount Washington in NH. :screwy: Well, Death Valley too, seen some crazy **** there as well. |
Highly disappointed in there not being a horrendous end-over-end tumble off the side of the cliffs.
BUT... glad y'all are safe and made it! :nice: /kidding about the disappointment... mostly. :) |

I need to put together the videos of my other drives. We also went through Clear Creek Canyon, Big Thompson Canyon, Trail Ridge Road, and Old Fall River Road. Also got video of us rafting Cache la Poudre. |
you need to get a self cleaning lens
