I don't get why people always try to make the comparison between electric/hybrid and diesel. Sure diesels get great mileage, but they pollute just as bad as traditional gas engine cars. 50% of the selling feature of the Volt is reduced greenhouse emissions - no diesel can make that claim.

I've read that these new clean burning diesels paired with the low-sulfer diesel on sale now actually produce significantly LESS pollution than a gasoline engine. I'm watching these closely - 70+mpg and diesel torque=awesomness.
