So lookin' about... I'm not sayin it's it, but there does seem to be a pattern... it appears that the P/S electronic box is getting fried by people using aftermarket HIDs in their Lexi (I'm guessin' that a plural form of Lexus) and mounting the HID ballast too close to the P/S box. It fries the P/S box when the HIDs come on, or at least interferes with it.

The solution is to replace the P/S box and move the ballasts away. Or not use aftermarket HID kits, duh. :)

The shaking is because the auto parallel park goes haywire, it appears. You can also get it to work by turning off the lights, and resetting the P/S box with the fuse.

I'd probably just tuck my tail between my legs, go get another set of unmodified Halogen assemblies, and fix it right. But that's just me.

Again, just pokin' about... but there is a pattern I see. Perhaps I'm wrong.

Now there's a recall on the 4WD Tacoma trucks. Something abou the front drive shaft getting cracks on the yoke ends breaking and falling out, causing a loss of control. I would hate to imagine driving down the road the drive shaft break away from the front diff dig into the pavement causing the truck to flip.

Seems a small 'oops' somewhere in the supply chain, only about 8000 and they're mostly still on the lots. Still...

Yeah... is it a bad case of arrogance where they refused to admit they were putting out some defective vehicles over the years? And now that they're busted big time they're coming clean trying to 'save face'??

I drove my 2007 Tundra for 36,000 miles with no problems. Have put 16,000 miles on my 2008 Sequoia, and just had the pedal shim installed during a routine oil change visit. So more than 52,000 miles in 3+ years of ownership, and never a headache. :) Two of the best vehicles I've ever owned, and we trade every 2 years so that roster is pretty long. I don't care about brands and will buy any vehicle as long as I like it.

IMO it's never in good form to gloat, considering ALL OEMS have had their share of problems. Loved all the Mustangs I've owned, but had to dump my F150 prematurely because I didn't want to shoulder the responsibility of spark plugs breaking off in the head, and Ford leaving me out in the cold holding the very LARGE bill. I'm sure the owners of Ford trucks that burst into flames in their driveway wish they had been in a car that ran away and simply required throwing the vehicle in neutral or turning it off. At least, I would...at least it's an easy fix and I can save my car as long as I remain calm.

Toyota now has a huge PR mess to clean up, and quality issues to address. A very common story in today's day and age of cost - and corner - cutting. I almost wish these problems were limited to Toyota, or one brand, but unfortunately, it's just going to keep happening.

Just some food for thought from a non-brand loyal owner of many vehicles. ;) Take it for what it's worth!
