I was returning home after a hard fought basketball game with my brother, and I saw this totally cool Japanese "pony" car. Saw that it was a Toyota Celica. It looked so sweet! An older lady in her 60+'s was driving this beautiful Green auto. It looked very VERY well taken care of.
Found some pretty awesome Toyo's online :nice: What do you guys think of them? Toyota Celica! Note the mustang-like rear and fastback look! http://members.optusnet.com.au/helen...%20quarter.jpg http://www.tccn.nl/02-leden/301%20to...00/306/306.JPG http://www.bildilla.com/MB_celica77_1.jpg http://www.quickfitmotorsport.com.au/joelcel.jpg Toyota 2000 GT http://www.f1photographs.co.uk/image...T%201d_JPG.jpg http://www.motormobiles.de/autoberic...15toyota03.jpg http://www.motormobiles.de/autoberic...15toyota04.jpg |
It kinds looks like Mustang.
Only problem is 4-cyl under the hood. |
yea, that is sort of a problem, not that big. there was an easy mod that was done that would put the engine around 200hp. and in 1977, those were pretty good numbers

its all about this beauty.

My dad bought one of those in 1985(?). It was an "Elegante`" model, what ever that meant. He drove that thing 'til he killed it, literaly. He was on his way home from on of his trips and it died on him on I-20 just west of Atlanta with over 300,000 miles on it. He loves his Toyota's just as much as he loves his Ford's. I don't blame him, they make great compact 4x4 p/u trucks. :nice:
EDIT: BTW, I was referring to the pic of the van in the previous post. |
The Toyota 2000GT is one rare car. They only built, I believe 337 cars ( I may be wrong), with only 54 going to the US. Now this was back in the '60's. I'm sure there have been more imported since then. The car had a Yamaha 150-hp, dual cam, 6-cylinder. It did the quater mile in 8.2, back in the 60's. This was incredible for its time. Today, the car is worth well over $100,000 in excellent condition. If you ever see one in person, I suggest you take a picture of it, as you may never see another one again. I saw one in person over a year ago, and loved it so much, I bought the scale model.

That knock off is a perfect example of Japanese 'cut & paste' technology.

Those first toyota celicas used the Mustang as inspiration. It is blatantly obvious. I think they are good looking cars.
|
They look great when compared to a II (which I like) but not when thinking of a real Mustang.
Not bad styling, at least the copy from the best. :D |

Worth checking out. http://www.geocities.com/ma71supratu...ry/2000gt.html . Great info about the car. |

I was posting this at work, during a 10 hour day. Thanks for the help :nice: |
