This is supposedly going to fit between the Boxster and the 911, $60K?? I never much cared for Porsches but this one is SWEET! B) B)

Evil_Capri 2/24/05 10:50 AM

I was wondering what the little coupe Boxer was going to look like. All the previous pictures I've seen are camo'd.

Looks pretty good. Any more pictures?

Fordracing200 2/24/05 11:14 AM

Nope, I hate it. It looks like a 350Z in the rear. And its too slow and too pricey for me. If it were like the 911 turbo i would be in love, but the 911 is not that fast, but the styling/handling/comfort is their.

Zc527 2/24/05 02:05 PM

no....looks like a 911 with really short rear...apparently the boxster and the 911 don't mix at all

FrankBullitt05 2/24/05 03:19 PM

I would take it...no worries about the heavy rear end (as with the 911) as its mid-engined

But isn't $60k a little high, I would think 45k would be more like it?

Zc527 2/24/05 04:40 PM

yea...60 is waaay to high...the boxster and cayenne actually are a good deal starting at $42,000.....but the Carrera GT..my dad and I stood drooling for 20 minutes at the AJC auto show...

mustangfun101 2/24/05 04:51 PM

Looks like the same ol' same ol' from Porsche. I really like Porsche but it should look a little different from the other two.

jsaylor 2/24/05 06:14 PM

I was hoping for better than this too.

unnoticedtrails 2/25/05 12:09 AM

Here's better pix sorry for the delay.

:stupid:

i think on their 911...instead of having a small v-6 in the trunk, put a v-8 in the front..that would kick hiney!

btw, is it going to be a production car?

Q`res 2/25/05 01:56 PM

First off, not to nitpick, but the 911 doesn't have a V6, it's a flat-6. There have been rumors of an 8 cylinder 911 before though. Personally I'd rather they keep the 6, want more juice just add turbos.

As far as the "Cayman", would have preferred if they didn't try to make it look so much like the 911 in profile.

Also, that name is just unforgivably stupid! Why couldn't they have called it 926 or something?

mustangfun101 2/25/05 04:07 PM

Make a modern 968

Something different

mustang_sallad 2/26/05 12:47 PM

i really like that red shot from behind. Although some of the colouring looks a little weird, maybe its a chop from a disguised car. I've been really interested in this car ever since i first saw spy shots.
And hey, Motor Trend just tested the boxster S, its slalom numbers were identical to the Carrera GT: 72.3 mph if i recall correctly. That's like one of the highest numbers i've ever heard. Better than an Enzo or a Ford GT, maybe not a lotus elise though...

GirchyGirchy 2/27/05 09:48 AM

I'm somewhat confused. Those pictures are of the upcoming Boxster coupe.

However, looking at spy shots of the Cayman, which is a new model based on the Boxster to sit between the Boxster and 911, it looks dead on the supposed Boxster coupe.

AutoWeek says the Cayman will have a 295hp engine, which is higher than anything in the Boxster. So will Porsche still produce the Boxster coupe alongside the Cayman, or has the Boxster coupe been cancelled? Or will the Cayman be slightly larger?

If they do produce both, I think the Cayman should look more different. I kind of wish they would have resurrected a 928-type vehicle, a front-engine, rear-drive with the V8 from the Cayenne. Because the Cayman seems slightly redundant at this point.

Anybody care to clarify?

dfhurleydude182 2/27/05 11:46 AM

Yeah it looks like just about every other Porsche. They need to shake it up and introduce something new looking, especially if they're going to try to sell it for $60K.

mustang_sallad 2/27/05 04:31 PM

I just thought this was the Boxster coupe with a new name.
Weren't they talking about the possibility of a porsche sedan or something? I think that'd be cool, something along the lines of the Quattroporte.

That's what's confusing me...if this is the case, then why are they putting an engine in it with more horsepower than the Boxster S? Wouldn't it get the same engines as the Boxster? Weird.

Zc527 2/27/05 09:02 PM

i meant 6-cylinder....absent minded at the time...lol

Birdman3 3/4/05 07:44 AM

when is porsche going to make a car that doesn't look like an evolution of a design from the seventies? I love the mechanics and engineering of them, but I won't consider one as long as they have that same old look.
