New 2022 Silverado

I have a Friend that is not the most savvy when it comes to Vehicles, diehard Chevy person. Goes to the local Chevy dealer to get a new truck. Salesman is walking around Talking about all the power the 5.3 has and according to my friend he said it more than 3 or 4 times during the conversation. He buys the truck, has everything he wants including a V8.
Cut to yesterday, he goes in to the local High Priced Performance shop to look at wheels and tires and finds out he has what they think is a 2.7 V6. Calls me up wondering about an exhaust for his Chevy V6 and tells me the size of said motor and I tell him it is the base Turbo 4 Cylinder, Ford has the 2.7 V6 not Chevy. Now he is pissed off, Bummed out and just asked which salesman to talk to at the Ford Dealership

WOW! Just wow, no words for that. Not only the dealership, but I'd find a new exhaust shop too. I don't want anyone working on my vehicle that can't raise the hood and tell a 4 from a 6 or an 8.

With all due respect, 1) one has to be an idiot to trust what comes out of a salesman's mouth, 2) it appears research was not a priority (perhaps not fluent w/websites), 3) unless the guy is illiterate he could have spent 2 minutes and read the window sticker. So, the guy wants a V8 and he doesn't know what it looks like? Did he also pay a markup?

Heavens to Murgatroyd! Exit stage right!

I honestly didn't even know they made a 4 cyl full size truck, but I haven't kept up with stuff like that for a while.

Yeah, I would be pissed... But, maybe he should have read the window sticker? Opened the hood? Not a lot he can do now, but WOW is right. That sucks. Doubt they will make that one right.

I hope for the best as well. Nobody deserves to be duped specially with today's vehicles prices.

If the dealer doesn't make it right it might be best to contact Chevrolet directly and explain what happened. That approach worked for me when I discovered that a new 2016 Corvette I bought had the Base model's wheels and tires rather than the ones that were included and listed with of the Z51 package. The dealer gave me the run around until I called Chevrolet Customer Service and mentioned the magic words: fraud, litigation, and free social media promotions. I explained all I wanted was what I paid for, nothing else. 3 weeks later I had the correct Z51 wheels and tires.

Dealers have to answer to the manufacturers, I assume misleading customers is not part of Chevrolet's standards and code of conduct rules which dealers have to comply with.

Seriously if you don't know the difference between a 4 cylinder and an 8 cylinder by taking a peak in the engine compartment you're a moron. With that said they were duped which is even more idiotic and just downright shady by the stealership IMHO.

Second Biggest Investment the Average Person Has and Yes You Should Have Some Knowledge about Transportation! Hell the Average Person Could Not Change a Tire if they Had to These Days! Wife & Kids all Knew Back in the Day! I made Them Drill on Their Cars!

I have Been Working on the Kid {25} Next Doors Sport Trac off and on and He Could Not Understand Why His Radio Did Not Work with a Very Dead Battery!

My daughter said she knows how to change a tire, call AAA and the little truck comes out, no problem.
Then she was talking about all the modifications she did with her Boyfriend now Husband to his WRX.
The guy with the Silverado went into the dealership for his free oil change and asked the salesman where the other half of his motor was, salesman knows less about vehicles than my friend did.
He is going to trade it in 2 years and this time he said he was getting a Ford since the Chevy people did him wrong.

I know someone who bought a new car, drove it under 3 years, 40k miles. Battery went out and they took it to the dealership and traded it for a new one.
