my dad is tempted by an 04 cobra..he changed his mind....and he's tempted by the v10 viper truck
[/quote]
04 cobra is a good choice, the SRT-10 Ram isnt.
SRT-10 Ram - 54k dollars
Lighning- 36k dollars
36k plus 5k dollar kenne bell is 41k and then it would smoke the 54k dollar srt-10, think about price to performance

Brand new Ram SRT-10 is $45,000 (Regular Cab) and $50,000 (Quad Cab). Brand new F-150 SVT Lightning back in 2004 was $33,000.
Even though SRT-10 have +120 hp and manual transmission advantage, its only 0.1 sec faster (13.8 on Ram SRT-10, 13.9 on Lightning).

So they're selling 2004 Lightnings for $36,000?
I found those 1/4 mile numbers in Motor Trend, so I don't know how correct they are.

motor trend, o boy those guys, they say their is no way to drive a lambo without stalling it off the line, they should dump the clutch at 6k and powershift if its such a problem, idiots. they were selling the lighnings for 36k, now they are 30k.
i was talking when they were both in the current model years

I said the Mustang just for the fact that it is an honest competitor to all those and is the lowest priced. I am sure you're Dad, if he is lookin gin this segment, is looking here for a reason. If money was not an object, he would probably be looking at a 911 or a vette. Of course if you ask peopl eon a Mustang board what he should get, they will say Mustang, but here it does win out because it does deliver more for le$$. I'd much rather spend 25k (if you can find one for that) for a Stang than 35k for a G35, who knows how much the Goat is, and the 350 is slower, rides harsher and has less interior room, and costs more.
Just my 2 cents. But then again if he is not dead set on a new car, what about a used 911? 99 and ups can be found in that price range.....

The wrx has 227 hp. The wrx STI has 300 hp but is priced well over the Mustang GT. I like the subaru wrx but for what its got its just too expensive
STi fully loaded: $35,793
Mustang GT Premium fully loaded: $30,605

u can get a 04 cobra with 425hp (underrated to 390) for 34,999 back when they were a hot brand new item at the svt dealers, now they are a lil older and are about 27-30k with low low low low mileage

tell ya what, you name the price and I'll find a decent 997 in the Chicago area, and I'll deliver it, you pay gas ins and a train ticket home.
There was a guy that had a black 6 speed C4 with 18s and like 33k miles for 30 grand. I can call him to see if it's still for sale.

BTW, I am not big on the WRX cause I am tall and so is my wife. So cars where the back seat has no leg room are not practical. The Chrysler 300 BARELY has enough room. But if you're short than it's cool.
Oh yeah, you dad looks pretty cool in a porsche. I tell you what when my dad turned 45, I talked him into a vette. He always wanted one and we worked with a dealer we both knew, and he finally got what he wanted, it was a used 86 but it was in perfect condition and he loved it. Then he died when he wa 48. So I am really glad that I talked him into getting that vette. Not saying your dad is gonna pass or anything, but live while you got the chance. If he really wants the 911, then that is what he should get. He should get what he really wants.
