Getting tired of the major car auctions
Why? Same old cars being flipped and flipped over and over. These aren't even cars to these owners, just money makers or attempts to make money. The last issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines had several examples of re-listed cars from Mecum that even brought boredom from the writer describing them. "I thought I saw this car before." is now commonplace at these auctions.
While it's fun and exciting to see fresh cars cross the auction block, the money guys have somewhat spoiled the overall experience.
Anyone else feel this way or am I getting too old.

I also feel the same way, which is the reason I don't tune into watching the coverage of either Mecum or Barrett-Jackson as much as I used to... Like you said, it gets really old when seeing the same cars cross the auction block, time and time again...

I had a 1970 Olds 442, with the 455 and Hurst dual-gate shifter, that I sold for $700 .... in 1979 when I was a starving college kid
it had over 100K miles and was falling apart, and I really couldn't deal with it at the time (Massachusetts car driven through the winters, and they used to dissolve in the salt back then) ..... but in hind sight I should have just kept it and restored it "someday"

Most of those cars we either drove or had friends who drove are now going for $500K at those auctions and more. Having built quite a few cars from the frame up it just seems the people buying them (at these auctions) aren't really car guys, they're just buying into it. Ya it doesn't help if your into it.

. But I still hold on to a few....Most of those cars we either drove or had friends who drove are now going for $500K at those auctions and more. I'm glad I didn't totally tune out as I still record them and fast forward to interesting auctions. These 4 hour shows can be done in 30 minutes except when you hit something good. Just yesterday I started watching a Mecum show from Kissimmee that was held very recently. Apparently some collector bought every single color Dodge Challenger Demon available and looked at the rainbow of colors in his garage without driving them. These 800 HP beasts all went on the block one right after the other. It was something to see. They didn't fetch crazy money but did sell for $110k and up. Each one listed for at least $85k back when new in 2018. People and their $$$.
The 70's and 80's will never be repeated where cool muscle cars could be bought cheap and we used them as daily drivers. Going down the road and seeing a White '66 Fastback sit for sale for months because the price was too high at $2800....Now everything speculates and keeps these cars hidden and rotting. These newer cars with computers and electronics don't age well just sitting. Capacitors have a shelf life. Try finding a PCM for a 2007 GT500 right now...Good luck! You now have an expensive piece of furniture.

Remember When The Car auctions Were All About The Pre WWII cars and Muscle Cars were Considered a Joke! Well The Joke is The **** Auctions Are What Turned The Once Affordable Blue Collar Guy Muscle Cars into Blue Chip Collectibles. I Have a Love Hate Feeling With The Auctions These Days!
