First Look: 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8
http://www.motortrend.com/auto_shows...rt8/index.html
Each of the SRT8's 465 horses and 465 pound-feet of torque are routed to sticky 20-inch rear rubber through the brand's well worn W5A580 AutoStick five-speed automatic. Yes, we know, it's no pistol-grip six-speed manual (say, from the Challenger SRT8 392), or even a six-speed slushbox, but SRT has included a first-ever paddle shifting function to make the aging tranny more entertaining. Even with the questionable gearbox in place, Chrysler reckons the SRT8 can sprint to 60 mph from a standstill in the high-4 second range, achieve 0.88 g on the skidpad, and top out at an estimated 175 mph. Quarter-mile times should be in the high-12 second range, Chrysler says. |
not impressed. There is just too much fail with this car to see any potential... i do however think they did a decent job with the nose this time.

kinda has an EVO front end look....
|
Not a fan of that front bumper.

Kind of a big, goofy EVO-esque front end--way over the top trying much too hard in trying to look bad *** or something. Seems to have fallen into some juvenile "my gaping grill is bigger than your gaping grill" pissing match.
Overall, it just makes the SRT* version and even odder pastiche of Dodge and other styling motifs. Guess we can look forward to a more clean sheet full redesign of the model in the future for a more coherent and well integrated look. |
better than the old one
|
...which looked like a hot rodded Checker cab to me.

I wasn't that big of a fan of the old design, but this one stinks. IMO |
It looks like a steroid injected EVO
Yuck Evo look sick, chargers normally look pretty decent, but together??? Designers took a big swing and miss with this one and the performance isnt even that great either! Looks like challenger will be their sole true performance vehicle in the line-up. At least till the viper comes back >:) Ford real Y needs to step it up and come out with another model like the GT tp compete with chevy and dodge |
i like it. there needs to be an option to chop off the rear doors and steal the Challenger's 6 speed manual.
|
I kinda like it. I'd get it in black and I'm sure it would look pretty sweet.
plus it would make the front bumper mesh better. :nice: While it isn't the best it's definitely in the right direction. |
I like it!

I'm sure my local law enforcement officers with the current car will like this one. I'd rather have the 300C SRT8. Dodge needs to save the Charger name for something more worthy and just call this the Polara because of its "polarazing" looks.
|
**** that's ugly!

Big mouth for the mouth breathers.

It's not pretty, but it's got huge presence and it definately saying "don't mess with me". I'd never want one instead of a Mustang, but as a relative practical family car? Yes please! Just a pity Ford doesn't offer a RWD "saloon" :( |
