First Corvette I ever drove.
I was over at my friend's place today and he had his Vette parked out front.
I remembered that it was the first one I ever drove.
THAT WAS ABOUT 1981.
OK everybody knows I'm old, but the cool thing is that he still has it.
I have a friend who actually keeps cars longer than I do.

The first Vette I drove was my girlfriend's mom's Vette.
She had a '81 Auto. They went out of town on a whim and I volunteered to go get it from Airport parking and drive it home.
Raced a 10th Anniversary RX-7 turbo on the way home. I held my own till the boost kicked in. I think Vettes at that time had like 185hp.
Anyway. I was 17 and that was the first Vette I drove.

I worked in a tire place way back in 1979/80 (payed for college)...
We had a fair number of 75-80 vettes...and of course we had to take for drives to test the tires (oh the poor owners...lol)
Also had a friend who had a 83....(horrible seats, going over bumps and your teeth fillings could come out, broke down all the time)

The first Corvette I drove was an '05 C6 at an autcross at the Car and Driver 50th anniversary party in Indy in 2005.

My first corvette drive was a friend's 1964 roadster that needed an overhaul. 1 qt of oil per 500 miles, typical worn out small block.
I then bought a '66 427 roadster from a co-worker.
This was in 1974 with the first gas crisis...he couldn't afford the gas.
I couldn't afford the gas either but I was young and didn't know any better.
Wish I had it now...
